Here’s the latest projects that have seen progress.

Most of the wing, arm, to the waist, done. I am loving this project. Wish my body let me stay with it more.
Charity yarns, charity socks. I think they will be striped or scrappy.

Spa sock for a gift. This is cotton and acrylic. Very soft and will work well for post bath and lotion

This wool doesn’t have enough strength to be socks so after trying and frogging twice, I decided to make a hat or two.

I did get a new scene going for editing book 2. Not as much as I want but, hey, it’s something. Progress.

We got a little rain and snow this morning, but I think we are into Spring again. The mesquite bushes are getting leaves. I do hope we get more spring showers. Our area is in exceptional level of draught. That is dryer than extreme.

Happy Spring, everyone!

Apparently There Were Complaints: A MemoirApparently There Were Complaints: A Memoir by Sharon Gless
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sharon Gless was on the View not that long ago promoting this book. Though I am not a cop show fan, I like shows about strong women. Cagney and Lacey was that kind of show for me. I still love these two actors in everything I’ve seen them in. So I looked at the library link for Libby and found this book in audio form there. Yay! I knew it would be in Ms. Gless’s voice.

As with all autobiographies, I feel it hard to give a review. This is, after all, her life. Her trials and triumphs. Who am I to judge? Still, it was less and more than I expected. But it was heartfelt and her truth. And I was glad to have read/heard it.

Comprehending the world is getting harder and harder. My brain just doesn’t want to compute the possibilities. The negatives are piled together with so many others it is hard to pick them apart to analyze each one to find the place to pin my hopes. No one could compare one life to another. No one can compensate for the losses in the recent past, current, or future. Compelling information of fake or real news keeps us all complaining about each other and the world at large. Complex feelings overwhelm us in confusion.

Why not compliment each other for the good we can find. We could spend time composing our thoughts, making compassion our mission. As my mother used to say, “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything.” Granted she could have held on to her own advice most of her life. But one piece of gold can compensate for a lot of mud.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “comp.” Find a word that starts with or contains “comp” and use it in your post. Enjoy!

This was fun today. When my glue dots quit working I used the QuickStik. It worked very well!

This is about 1/3rd done. I thought I was at the halfway point but realized that I still have part of it rolled up at the bottom. But isn’t that bird cute?

There isn’t much finished since yesterday, but the spa slipper is nearly to the heel stage.

I like this cotton blend and wish I had lots more. I think these slippers will feel quite nice on tired feet.

When I post this, I plan to write a new scene for my book rewrite. This part of the writing process is harder than that first read/edit. I have to think more while trying to keep my creative brain open to new ideas. So there’s that. I’ll let you know if the scene works out.

How’s your Friday?

Still kind of tired so the week is going slow. ☹️

I got new glasses.

$15 at Amazon. Blue Light Protection, well, what it says on the box up there. The bottom part is a 3.50 and it gradually goes less. I wish the top was just clear as I still have to glance over the top for farther away, like television. But they help a lot for reading, knitting, and Diamond Painting.

Speaking of which:

Half of the bird is done now. Oh. And I got a QuickStik. Still new at using it but some people love it. I’ll let you know later.

Oh, and using the ruler is wobbly after hitting the middle section of the picture. Again, maybe there’s a learning curve.

My friend gave me new yarn. Are you feeling the giddiness I felt receiving it? Whee! ❤️❤️❤️🤗

And this cotton blend calls to being spa slippers. Couldn’t even keep it off the loom!

I still haven’t climbed back into the editing chair. 😢 Maybe tomorrow or weekend will get me going.

It is slightly warmer lately, but the wind keeps me inside. Even so I’m cold. I’m working on my diet to see if that’s the problem. With some foods unavailable in our stores I’m needing to be creative. Time for some shifting around.

One-Liner Wednesday

Another found on Facebook. There is wisdom to be found.
Thanks, Linda, for One-Liner Wednesday!

Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4)Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished this second read of the fourth book. I wanted to be ready for the new season on television. I didn’t need to read the whole series, though I watched the whole show from season 1 again. I really love the music by Bear McCreary. I just wanted to refresh myself of the memory of what happens to the Frasers and the rest once they are in America.

I loved the story written, narrated, or acted. Though a little different in each case, it is a fun ride.

Davina Porter narrates with such a varied voice that one always knows whose viewpoint we are hearing. Every now and then, I get confused with Bree and Clair or Roger and Jamie. But it doesn’t take long before a person can know who they are hearing.

I have already started book five as it has more about the American Revolution through the Frasers’ eyes. I can’t wait to see how they do it on the show. I love all the time travel. I love visiting other countries and hearing histories brought forth by Diana Gabaldon, whose research and knowledge as portrayed in the books and show.

The following was from my first reading/listen from March 2020.

Oops! I nearly forgot to review this one. I just moved into the next read (a library book).

I really wish I had read this before the series on television. I liked the rhythm of the story better. I like the viewpoints presented here as Clair’s rather than Bree’s as the television series has it. It is different not having the information about the daughter making the voyage back in time and back to America.

I think we got into Roger’s head a little more, too. It doesn’t take away from the show. Interestingly, the directors and actors took the storyline without losing the story.

No spoilers here. Just glad I read (listened to the Audible) it and can’t wait to get into the next one!

I feel better today. Still a little tired, even after 8 hours last night and a nap. You know, as useless as I felt over the last couple days, my hands continued knitting. So that this morning I finished this pair of slipper socks for the charity.

KB His sock loom. Kitchener cast-on, flat knit stitch, German short-row heel, more flat knit stitch, 2 by 2 purl/knit ribbed cuff.

I managed a bit of Diamond Painting before a nap took me.

From top to nose level of the dragon. A little lower on the right side. I can’t wait to see the bird done. Maybe tomorrow.
This is all that was left of the yarn I made the slipper socks from. I’ll probably use it in a toy.
So I found another cake of soft white yarn to start another pair. I think I’ll use the white for toes and heels. There probably isn’t enough for a whole pair.

Zero Energy

For the last two days I feel like I’m out of batteries. It might be the

Sleep last night.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “trip.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Remember the way the kids would joke if you stumbled? “Have a nice trip?” Yeah. I never thought it was funny unless I recovered and could laugh at myself.

Most of the America’s Funniest Videos seem to be based on that joke. Hopefully, the victim recovered and made a little money from it. But still, I think we all stumble and fall. I think when we get hurt it is worse. Then it is more than scrapes. For the socially shy, each trip takes the person down the rabbit-hole of shame. Trip=bad.

Taking a vacation elsewhere. Oh, how I long for one of those. But lack of funds, COVID-19, now gas prices, that kind of trip is out.

If you are a child of the 60s, a Baby Boomer, taking a trip, trippin’ had a different meaning. I feel weird as I never did. I was too afraid of my mom to try. But about everyone I knew did and told me about it.

Then there was Captain Trips… Brings 2021 full circle!

I have wonderful memories of vacation trips and a marvelous cruise to Alaska. Now, that was a nice trip!

Stream of Consciousness, my fav kind of trip!
