All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Now I can’t wait to see the movie! This was a good book! Anthony Doerr wrote beautifully, and Zach Appelman could do all the characters very well. In fact, when he did the female voices, I didn’t hear the belittling tone I usually hear when a male portrays a female.
This was a scary step to take after the heavy historical facts of Rachel’s book. I was so worried that I couldn’t handle what happened to the beloved characters in the book. It doesn’t end with a happily ever after, but it felt real yet enlightening and full of love.
To show how captivating this story was, I didn’t get to sleep until 4:30 this morning, and I had a long drive to stay awake for today. So far, the strength of the characters in the book sustained me. Maybe by this weekend, I can watch the show.
I’ve just started this book.
Dive deep. It’s worth it!💜💜💜
I will. After a long time, I’m reading a real book instead of a digital one.
My last paper book took me a year. My eyes just don’t track well anymore. So I find larger print and spaces, and text-to-speech Kindle, and Audio is how I have to do it now. I miss the smell and texture of the paper.
I’m finding paper book difficult too. Can’t read at night as my husband sleeps early
That’s part of my problem, too. I’m so busy during the day with all my projects that reading happens at bedtime and sometimes all the way to 3 and 4AM. That’s when I know the book is good!
That was my routine before my kindle.
💜💜💜
Read the book and I have watched the film as well. A lot of changes were made but I still enjoyed it
So far, I liked the book better. But I do love the show’s take and the talent used for the characters. It had to have been quite an ordeal to pull that all together.
I agree. I think to compensate for those who were saddened by the death of “you know who”, they just had to revise the ending.
We just finished the Netflix series last night. I had to tell my husband the book ending. I think they didn’t have enough time or budget to get deep into anything. I think I’ll write a review of our latest filmology tonight.
