Sigh. Practice time is nigh. I’m getting better. It’s hard to hit the eighty-eight keys when midnight is in sight.

I’d love to say I’m improving on either recorder or piano. But I’m trying to keep the sessions light and as fun as possible. It’s been a long time since I put this much effort in. Trying to clear the practice cobwebs.

Sight is a problem. Cataract surgery not until after September’s consultation. Until then, I’m embarrassed to admit, I’m stumbling on what I could play flawlessly when I was 12. Having larger notations and less on the page helps. As I play a bit of cellular memory eases my plight.

On the recorder a lot is playing recognized tunes. I can read the music. It’s my fingers. If you don’t fully cover the holes air escapes and the higher squeaker tones come out. It’s a matter of laughing at myself and keep trying. Arthritis might be the problem. But if I stay relaxed and quit if it hurts too much, I’m more likely to try again later.

Housemates and neighbors haven’t complained at my late play time. The new position of my music/hobby room is far from open windows or others’ rooms. Still, when I wait too late I’m too tired.

So I’d better not delay the delight.

Have a wonderful Fourth of July!

And good night!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “contains ‘igh.’” Find a word that contains the letters “igh” in that order and use it in your post. Enjoy!

A pair nearly finished. Ankle done on one. After ankles then cuffs and done.

Because we have to keep the house dark on these hot days, knitting doesn’t happen as often or as long. My eyes complain at the strain.

Much of what was supposed to be done by today still patiently waits.

Maybe we should all have the patience of tasks undone!

I escaped coloring and left June undone.

Center Fold
Unfinished

My addition to the Escapist Coloring Club will span two months.

Since it started getting either busy and/or hot my Camp Nano has seen no progress. I’ll continue in July.

This then was my One-liner Wednesday, etc. post.

Tuesday

It is still too hot in the house. Yet it is PERFECT out here on the porch.

Do you see the mesquite pods getting long? And the mint beneath is giving me ideas for tea popsicles. I made green tea ones for tomorrow and Thursday.

Oh, and the sun is setting. I don’t know if you can see the gorgeous like I can. My eyes are still better than the cell lens. That’s something to be thankful for.

My baby toe got x-rayed today. I know it’s broken but the doctor wanted to see the pics anyway.

I got an email from the doc saying how proud she is of not only the weight loss but how all my numbers were so much better than last time. Yay! ME! Not anywhere near done with IF and Keto!

Okay, mosquitoes are biting. Time to go in.

Someone out there might need this.

Good News, Bad News

I’m back to What Day Is It Anyway.

I totally forgot it was Monday until 8:30. Shoot! I missed the writers group zoom, again!

The day started with my doctor appointment. Guess what? I lost 17 pounds now. Bad news? I had hoped for 20.

I have to go back tomorrow to get my toe x-rayed. It’s still discolored and hurting.

We got to 100. Ugh! Expecting 104 tomorrow. Then a downward trend hitting the high 90s the rest of the week.

Watched Alone on Netflix. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m9CiTagKvJo

Sorry that the URL is all you get. I haven’t figured out how to bring the YouTube to my blog page when on my phone.

I try to watch shows that have snow in them. It sort of helps. Alone is in the Arctic. That should do it!

While doing Duolingo, (oh! I just hit 700 days!) and writing this I had Day After Tomorrow playing on Amazon Prime.

Has anyone noticed the sound difference between the networks? For example, even with the volume on at 100% we can barely hear Netflix. While Amazon Prime I had to turn down to 60%.

Even between ABC and Animal Channel a big difference. Weird!

Time to toot the recorder and tickle the keys before bed

You all keep cool and safe!

Hot Sunday

I still don’t feel like turning on the laptop. It is still quite warm at nearly eleven. And we didn’t even hit the predicted 101. But too uncomfortably close.

In spite of that, the day was fun. Nottinghill, Holiday, and 50 First Dates, Big Hero 6, played on TV while the four of us and the furry children sat in front of fans and looked pathetic.

I managed to knit a heel on a sock. Wahoo something got done!

Sorry this is short and boring. But when I read back in the future it might be cold and busy and I’ll look at this time and gain inner warmth or be glad it still isn’t summer.

Now, even though it is late, I’m going to try and hit the musics then the shower and bed.

Up in the sky, way over there,

Those thoughts that fly

When I need them most

Are having a hey day!

Down in that valley, yes, right here,

We try to carry on,

Spiriting up

Getting things done

Having down to Earth fun.

A lack of sleep night had me scurrying for words when talking to family. But I had my ups and downs in the day getting lots of recorder things done, piano practice, even scales with fingers running up and down the keyboard.

A couple boxes got unboxed. The first signs of the heat showed up. Though in comparison with those west of here our temps were down, I don’t think we got to the predicted 95. Not looking forward to the triples due tomorrow through Wednesday. Too hot to be productive when there is no AC. Well, we have fans and a little window AC. But not the whole house kind.

Keep cool everyone!

chilling in a cooler

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “up/down.” Use one, use them both, but try to put one in your first sentence. Bonus points if you use the other in your last sentence. Have fun!

Thanks for the fun prompt, Linda G. Hill!

Finished Friday!

My music/hobby studio is nearly complete. At least the piano is where it needs to be and most of the music books and things are situated. And knitting gear (because the knitting has no home yet) are in the place I want them to be. I even sat and practiced, actually played something over and over until I got it right, and then played some more. Yay! Me! The lighting is good. There is an overhead light and one for over the shoulder. The sound is good there and I feel better not being parked next to my son’s bedroom. I wish I were soundproof but whatever.

Oh, and the–whatever this piece of furniture is called– is now in the entryway of the living room. It will be cleaned out and filled with things like scarfs, gloves, hats and the like. The masks are on top.

Oh, those are portraits of my brothers and me as kids. And that was the flag I received for my vet dad when he passed I think that was a decade ago. I do miss him.

The basket next to the–whatever that piece of furniture is called–will be cleared out for boots and shoes, etc. To the left of that piece of furniture is a small hat tree. I want to make another longer one in the open wall to hang our coats.

My brother, son, husband and I worked very hard getting the furniture moved and in the new homes. Today started the going through the mountain of boxes we created while moving things around. We felt like we were playing Tetris sans the fun but irritating music!

The vlog studio still needs work but we are seeing more progress, No picture it or of the dining table that though it has been cleared is surrounded by mount boxes. But hey, that is a lot done for a bunch of retired and disabled people!

Hope you all had a Fantastic Friday and have a great weekend!

Muggy Monday

So, as promised, a near 100 degree day with high humidity. So another day of games. What else can I do? Oh, and we found the reason, or so we think, for the crazy internet reception. Most anything that relies on the net had the annoying circle spinning rather than something fun to watch. So real TV played with all the stupid commercials in the background. We watched several versions of local news which gave us the bad extra news of lightning storms on top of draught and heat. The occasional rain is welcome and smells so wonderful.

So what did I play? Unfinished Tales: Illicit Love. The games yesterday were funnish. This game, has its moments but if you need help the “Hints” were unhelpful for where you were. In fact, Argelfumph: The Nancy Drew Dude, said exactly that on his walkthrough.

I walked with him for a while and suddenly I found myself in different areas of the game than his video. I got as far as his second part when I finally gave up and just relied on the strategy guide and map and occasional “hint” lady. I suppose this is a good game for if you are entirely bored. Oh, yeah, that’s where I was! Boreland!

When I finished that one I ate my OMAD (One Meal a Day) and moved on to the next of the games on my purchase list from six year ago and more. Thank goodness Big Fish keeps a list and once you have purchased you can download as often as you need.

So the one I am working on is Timeless The Forgotten Town. I couldn’t find a YouTube but would prefer to have a Walkthrough that wasn’t YouTube so I went with the one on Big Fish.

The walkthrough is pretty good. But every time I try to leave the game to look at the walkthrough the game gets wonky and I have to close down and start the game again. Luckily, I don’t lose my progress. I have played most of my games before. Most of them have been so long ago that they seem new. This one I sort of remember. Outside of the wonkiness of my computer or the game itself, I think this one is fun.

So, I think I’ll get back to it. Tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler so the guys and I plan a very busy working day. We have company coming, and that is a good reason to get on top of this mess! I can’t wait to move the piano and set up a bit of a studio for music and then another for the vlog or whatever that turns out to be. I am excited to get started on all of it!

I hope you all had a great Solstice! Looking at the countrywide forecast for the day didn’t look that great and in comparison our weather was mild. Please be safe out there.

Sorry that the Bitmoji seems to have a broken arm. They didn’t have a Solstice on and this was all I could create that looked somewhat happy.

Het up on the hot day the German man

seinen Hut aufsetze,

or put on his hat.

Aber when the temperature hit triple digits, he hid in his hut.

Even the sombrero wearer next door knew when to give up and take a siesta.

That sums up the days here on the west coast. We didn't hit the triple but got mighty close. I didn't go outside. Even Kali chose the chair in line with the breeze from the fan.

On a hot day, we stayed cool!
