Since I blogged about the beautiful snow. I’m not so excited anymore. That snow is still here. It hasn’t gotten warm enough to melt. And we’ve had a couple snows since. And another storm coming on the weekend. Had anyone told the weather that it’s not winter yet?

Poor Kali hasn’t wanted to go outside for a month. It’s too deep and icy for her aged body.

Ah so let’s see. I’ve shared my finished socks. My other socks aren’t progressing as fast.

Oh! I know! I haven’t shown sunflower progress.

Maybe I’ll be finished tomorrow.

And I guess I should give the final word count for Reflexions.

That’s where I was a couple nights ago. On the 30th I hit 33,003 and called it good. Teddy’s character is fun. I hope I can get all the bits to fit together like a real story. I reset a goal of 17,000 for December. I’m starting this first part reviewing all I’ve written so I can figure out where and when it is happening.

Hope you all are staying warm. Thank goodness we are!

Icy snow hasn’t had much chance to melt since it snowed so beautifully a couple weeks ago. Though pretty, still, the cold is getting old. Even blue skies don’t make it better. I’m fact, clear skies almost guarantee colder than norm temps. It is always warmer here if there’s a cloud cover.

So maybe that is why my mood has gotten less than sweet. My creative writing muses walked out on me. So no writing has happen for a couple days. Not sure what to do about that, or if I should keep the 50k goal or make it a little easier to reach.

One thing I have been doing non-stop has been knitting, tinking, and reknitting rows and rows of these socks. I think I finally have it right.

The heel turned on the top. That’s next on the bottom sock.

The NaNoWriMo stopped all interesting TV watching. Suddenly I noticed I missed a couple weeks of The Walking Dead. Yikes! So today I caught up. I don’t think I have any tears left! Two of my favorites didn’t make it. 😭

I’m almost finished with Sunflowers.

I’m getting back to knitting. Now that I get it, the heel turning, again, I need to practice.

How’s your Monday?

Started Monday with this gorgeous scene.
Hard to see but it was blustery for a while.
Kali still lives playing in the snow. All her footprints from running up and down the steps and driveway. As old and feeble as she seems, some things still seem to make her happy.
We’re currently at 27.
Cold nights ahead
Almost done. Maybe by the weekend?
Flexee fine-gauge loom socks nearly ready for the white heel. Very soft wool.
Double pointed needles. First time. Needed lessons for heel. Got the first part done. Hope I can get over for my lesson tomorrow to finish the heels. Then I’ll probably need help with the toes. I hope to get more of this yarn to make a smaller pair.
Bamboo yarn on CinDWood sock looms. Heading for the leg, then cuff.
My experimental HiyaHiya Fliers sock. These are so thin I can only do a row or two before my hands tire.
Time to get busy. I should have 11,669. And I still need to do Duolingo for the day.

Friday Eve

Works in progress.

I don’t know if I am more proud of the hat or finally used all that fuzzy yarn up. The yarn at the top is leftovers. Enough for toys, I guess. I’ll share the finished project tomorrow.
Progress so far.

I’ve only written 412 words so far today. Total in project 4,683. It’s fun so I need to get back to it. The family Pensées is so interesting! I know, it’s all in my head. LOL!!!

Finishing Friday

Making progress. It sure needs straightening.
Received the book inspiring my NaNoWriMo for this year. Lots to do before Halloween midnight!
Kali sleeps while I display the DPN socks. Next I learn to finish the heel. That lesson is on Tuesday. I can’t wait!

Meanwhile, I think I have enough yarn to make one more hat for charity.

No picture of plumbing issues. I don’t want to see it. But my shower is weeks from being done. The floor is finally dry. Now to get rid of the mold that has formed in the wall for years, maybe decades. The plumbing is put together. Once mold free the walls go back up. Meanwhile, I’m sorting

Yes, still letting ‘sleeping dog’ lie. The sock on the left had to be frogged and started over. It seems like no progress but that sock is now past where it was when I had to reknit.
I’ll probably get more done on these this weekend.

Mostly my aim is to have enough characters and a bit of plot on some kinda world. Three days!!!!! Yikes!!!!

What are you working on?

Flexee fine-gauge wool socks were farther along. The one on the bottom was that full ball finished. I didn’t like something so I had to tink back to the white part. I’ll have to do that to the top sock, too.
Ready to learn Turn heel.
This is the pattern I’m following in my knitting class. My next step is ‘Turn heel’ on the first sock.
Sock 2 cuff finished. Now on to the leg.
HiyaHiya Fliers sock cuff finished. Now I need to watch the YouTube for the next part.
One bamboo sock nearly to the heel. Sock number 2 nearly there, too. (CinDWood sock looms)
Almost halfway done with the Sunflowers.

I’m learning so much while having a great time. Oh. And here comes NaNoWriMo! First character is nearly formed. Pensées is the working title. Olive Odette Pensées is my first character. The story is starting to form. I can’t wait! Who’s joining me?

Two weeks!

Making Monday

My first try with 4 double-pointed needles. Tomorrow I am taking my first lesson. I need to learn how to fix mistakes, how to make the heel and toe. This soft wool yarn will make gifts.
My first attempt at making a sock with the HiyaHiya Fliers. This may make a small solo sock that will be frogged when I have enough tiny yarn to make a full pair.
Still love my Flexee Fine-Gauge loom for making socks. They are easy on my hands. This yarn is very soft. To be gifts.
Bamboo/cotton on the CindDWood sock loom. Soft non-allergenic yarn for gifts.
About 1/4 finished.

I haven’t touched the toys. I just don’t like the sewing and stuffing. Mastering the inner child of the 72 year old is harder than when I was younger! I have a similar problem with straightening, sealing, and framing the Diamond Paintings. And I haven’t the foggiest idea who would want the paintings.

Too bad there isn’t an assembly-line set up for those who love to sew, stuff, line, and frame products. Hobbies should make happiness not more work!

Finishing Friday

Well, I did finish a couple things.

Yay! My favorite hat yet! And it fits me. That makes it hard to put in the charity bag. Someone will like it to I hope.
This is the leftover yarn.
These are the ChiaoGoo circular needles I used in the last three hats. The upper right is US 7 24 inch. The right is US 8 16 inch. The left is my favorite and made this last hat. US 8 40 inches. When it was time to decrease I could magic circle a couple times to make it easier.
I hope you can read this. I finally found this pattern. It was the one I memorized early on and kept it in the ole noodle. LOL!

I started one more hat. I may be playing yarn chicken. Hope I have enough.

This is more info than I wanted to share as someone who likes bamboo socks will know.😉

Sock on the right HOTL (Hot Off The Loom). The purple yarn is from The Willows a local yarn shop. It is so soft. The white is leftovers from another project. It it thicker but good for toes and heels. The fuzzy yarn of the cuff is from a friend. I’m not sure I’d like it next to my skin but leggings might be nice under. Keep or gift, that is the question. LOL!!!

Progress on Daisies.

Sunflowers

This is going to be fun.
This was well marked. Easy to kit up. Diamonds will paint tomorrow.
