Tasks Tuesday

Remember the goal of CampNaNo writing and editing? I haven’t forgotten. I just couldn’t deal with the laptop or heat from laptop. Since I’ve been writing the blogs on the cell lately, I decided to see how I could write on my smaller gadgets.

Well, I do use a system using my Fire to do what I can’t do on the phone.

I don’t know how others do it but to post  a YouTube, picture and all, I need to copy and paste URLs. If I try from the phone I end up with just the URL no picture. On my Fire, on the internet, I do the same thing and get a picture.

Weird!

Anyway, as I get ready to take my little trip, I knew I would want to write and edit for CampNaNo. I spent today organizing Word for my cell. I made sure I could access my writer project through a couple ways. And I learned the mobile version of Word will read to me. For my poor eyes that is a blessing!

So, there’s a task done and so, no matter what, I can blog or write! Yay!

My company comes tomorrow!!! Many tasks set for the morning! So grateful that the next two days are to be cooler. It was supposed to be 98 today but I don’t think we hit 95. Tomorrow and Thursday predicted temperatures 95. Let’s hope it never gets out of the 80s!

Time for music playing then on to bed.

Tuesday

It is still too hot in the house. Yet it is PERFECT out here on the porch.

Do you see the mesquite pods getting long? And the mint beneath is giving me ideas for tea popsicles. I made green tea ones for tomorrow and Thursday.

Oh, and the sun is setting. I don’t know if you can see the gorgeous like I can. My eyes are still better than the cell lens. That’s something to be thankful for.

My baby toe got x-rayed today. I know it’s broken but the doctor wanted to see the pics anyway.

I got an email from the doc saying how proud she is of not only the weight loss but how all my numbers were so much better than last time. Yay! ME! Not anywhere near done with IF and Keto!

Okay, mosquitoes are biting. Time to go in.

Someone out there might need this.

Finished Friday!

My music/hobby studio is nearly complete. At least the piano is where it needs to be and most of the music books and things are situated. And knitting gear (because the knitting has no home yet) are in the place I want them to be. I even sat and practiced, actually played something over and over until I got it right, and then played some more. Yay! Me! The lighting is good. There is an overhead light and one for over the shoulder. The sound is good there and I feel better not being parked next to my son’s bedroom. I wish I were soundproof but whatever.

Oh, and the–whatever this piece of furniture is called– is now in the entryway of the living room. It will be cleaned out and filled with things like scarfs, gloves, hats and the like. The masks are on top.

Oh, those are portraits of my brothers and me as kids. And that was the flag I received for my vet dad when he passed I think that was a decade ago. I do miss him.

The basket next to the–whatever that piece of furniture is called–will be cleared out for boots and shoes, etc. To the left of that piece of furniture is a small hat tree. I want to make another longer one in the open wall to hang our coats.

My brother, son, husband and I worked very hard getting the furniture moved and in the new homes. Today started the going through the mountain of boxes we created while moving things around. We felt like we were playing Tetris sans the fun but irritating music!

The vlog studio still needs work but we are seeing more progress, No picture it or of the dining table that though it has been cleared is surrounded by mount boxes. But hey, that is a lot done for a bunch of retired and disabled people!

Hope you all had a Fantastic Friday and have a great weekend!

Yep, I’m at it again! JuNoWriMo. I didn’t finish, or even do much with last months editing. So I am combining the editing and rewriting that needs to happen to finish Pandamapocalypse. But a new book was calling to me so I have started on Marina’s Mission. So my count for Panda is 510 words added as the story still hasn’t finished. Yet MM is the second part of Panda. So this is going to get complicated. Even so I managed 1870 words. Yeah!

I have complained that we get no spring or fall here. But this year the weather has been more of a springy feeling. I love my mesquite bushes just outside. They blossomed up and became nearly yellow with all the flowers. I finally got out to take a couple pictures.

Can you see the pods? Those are what makes the mesquite the most fun. In the summer when the pods turn brown they start popping open. If you are lucky, as you stand an look at these huge bushes, the sound of popping corn happens. It is so much fun to stand and hear a bush make noise!

It wasn’t really quiet as I took the pictures. There were so many bees that the buzz made me very nervous. I got away as soon as I could.

My newest socks are coming along.

The practice on the recorder was slight but I did manage to finger out Mary Had A Little Lamb, and Twinkle Twinkle. But I would love a book to read the music as I go. Tomorrow I promised myself to play one song on the piano just to reconnect.

For those that are curious as to how the Intermittent Fasting/Keto are doing. I’m managing OMAD (One Meal A Day) and that is a very healthy meal. I am rarely hungry later and if so water or tea will do the trick. My pants are getting loose enough to pull down without unsnapping or unzipping. I don’t weigh myself but at the end of the month I have a doctor’s appointment where I know they will weigh me. I think I will be happy with the result.

Today has been the warmest day all year. I think we hit 92. It is suppose to cool off the rest of the week. I think this was to help us get used to what is coming. Fans were running in every room all day.

Midnight is creeping up so I best get this published and head off to bed.

sleep well

A collection of thoughts come to me today. Forty two years ago today my third son was born. It seems a million years ago, yet yesterday. Never did he feel new to me. Never had the gene-pool collected so many aspects of loved ones. I think he inherited all the good of us. His preciseness, musicality, need to express, yet need for isolation makes him difficult to control but more lovable nonetheless. His life finally seems to be blooming. Love has found his life. I hope and pray that for him forever.

Now let me collect my emotions, tears of joy and love. Maybe I have a stable center when I’m not focused on family. But family is what I collect.

Per Linda G. Hill:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “collect.” Use the word “collect” any way you’d like. Have fun!

My rocker recliner is my best friend. Not only has it kept me in isolation from the covid, now it has rescued me from four days of traveling for four hours a day. I am in this rocker recliner and I’m staying and that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Happy Saturday — and my man is home! ❤❤❤

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “roc.” Find a word with “roc” in it or use it as a word all by itself. Enjoy!

I started my morning glancing at The Sound of One Hand Typing and found his answers to the Share Your World questions provoking.

Here are the

QUESTIONS

What do you believe but cannot prove?

I just read and reviewed How to Die In Space. Wormholes were the thing Mr. Sutter said was the least likely item out there. Yet how would Star Trek, Farscape, or even Doctor Who get around without them? See? Case in point! They have to exist!

A little more serious. I do believe in the power of prayer. Not like I learned at church, but what I have absorbed metaphysically. When I pray, I feel I take the time to put my mind onto something or someone; I find the energy flows and have seen results. Often, I find my prayer worded so that I need to revise on occasions to be the most loving outcome for all. No, I cannot be the one that brought about the result. That means whether my hope went one way or the other, the result is out of my hands. Love is in charge. In that case, then, I believe, God/Goddess is love.

Do animals have morals?   Exclude human beings from the equation please.

Here is the question that John Holton and I differ on. And from the mere observable point of view watching our cats. I suggest, like every group, there are terrific and rotten and variants between.

I had a cat who took in some other cat’s kittens. Kimberlina raised these kittens, caring for them like they were her own. With four kids in the house, she became mother number two. She would lead me to see naughtiness in the works. Many other cats we’ve had were not as morally beautiful. But in cat-world, we believe she was a saint.

Meet Kimberlina, Kimby for short. She’s the big one on the right. The kitten is a foster my son, not the one pictured, but the one who worked at a pet store brought home knowing Kimby would be good at taking care of it. Kimby came to us when she couldn’t even hold up her head. Her eyes were closed. We couldn’t find anyone with milk for her, so we used plain yogurt, and she seemed to like and thrive from it. We had her, I think, for 17 years. Through divorce and a million moves. (Exaggerate much?)

In fact, this very balcony was where she decided to see if she could fly. We were on the second story. Talk about scared! But the kids (who were late teens and early adults) found her and brought her home. She hid under my bed for a couple nights. One night I couldn’t handle it anymore. I whispered out to her. She came out. She shook it out. Jumped up on the bed with me and seemed just fine for another six years. Gosh, how we all miss her! It’s been 20 years, and we all still talk about her with tears just below the surface.

Thanks for the memories!

Is there inherent order in nature or is it all chaos and chance?

Wow! Nature prevails over the chaos and chance, I think. Chaos, like forest fires, may kill everything in the area, and yet before long new life exists in the burnt areas. Look at Chernobyl. Nature has managed what we humans haven’t. The above chaos is manmade. But hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes, meteors, etc., can kill everything off, but Nature brings life back.

Where is your least favorite place in the world?

I’ve not been very far in the world. But I bet I can universally narrow this down. Offices full of cubicles. I can’t think of any I could ever handle again, no matter what country or planet it resides in. I have met some really awesome people in that work environment and am still friends with them. But I couldn’t survive another moment in that kind of place.

Feel free to share something about the seasons that makes you smile!

Growing up in Southern California, we had Summer and warm everything else. So when we moved here in Outback Oregon, we have most of the seasons. I’m smiling at the upcoming summer is showing its face. The following is probably done for a while.

But this is today:

This last picture is the same mesquite bush that was full of snow in January’s picture. Sadly, we still need to drip water at night. But I was in T-shirt while taking the greenery above and only a little chilly. Yay! Warm is coming!

A to Z Challenge, V

Visual

The little bit we got Sunday Morning
This morning (7 AM) backyard
Obviously the snow blew in from the east.
Toward the driveway. Mesquite buses full of snow.
Toward west side of front yard.
Looking north
I just loved how the mesquite looked.
Ground brown mud but look at the sky!
Blue skies fading but leftover clouds proudly pink and purple!
The reason I had to see this beauty all day.
Thank you, Kali!

Rested, reclined, relieved, recovering, refreshing right?

This A to Z Challenge, obviously ‘R’, is a version of Linda G. Hill’s One-liner Wednesday.

Yes, we are getting better since the shot. We’ll be right as rain tomorrow.
