Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

Hot. I have learned to like the snow but I prefer hot so I can swim. I miss swimming so much! Here we have a dry heat so all we need even when it is triple digits, is just a fan, a swamp cooler might be nice but we got along okay last summer on just fans. Now to find a pool.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

I prefer long hair because I can put it up in a pony or bun if it gets hot. Short hair just takes too much upkeep as it starts growing.

What is your favorite month of the year?

July. August starts getting too hot and June isn’t warm enough. I have learned to like other seasons now, but warm doesn’t hurt like the other seasons.

What is the easiest way for your to learn something new?  By reading, by seeing and doing, in a classroom?

I wish YouTube had been around for most of my life. I love being able to watch someone do something and then follow through doing it too. It is how I learned my loom knitting. I do well with written instructions but with my tracking problem only getting worse I think watching and being able to rewind and watch over and over helps a lot.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Sometimes a person just has to be grateful for breathing in and out and then see through a calm mind all the good in their lives, family, friends, a roof over my head, plenty to eat and drink, puppy and kittens–and I don’t mean Zombies for those that watch Z Nation.

I have a bunch of books from the e-library that came in so I look forward to reading those and finishing my Bate’s Motel binge. I didn’t realize how much I was going to like it. It isn’t like Psycho, all horror. It is seeing the crazy in that whole town of folks with some really good ones mixed in.

Thank you, Cee, of Cee’s Photography, for setting up some really good prompt questions. Please check out her site, it is fantastic!

Pals

Once or twice a week in a normal week, my pals from Reno and I get on Google Hangout and chat. It is a way we can see each other and just enjoy our time together, even if it isn’t in person.

Thanks to my son and daughter I was able to see my pals this past week. One of those pals came to see me at my daughter’s and sometimes took me places. Even took me to the next city to see our other pal. We were too busy visiting and knitting to take a picture so I substitute this. The other pictures were of women around tables. We weren’t around tables. We were on the sofa (I like sitting on the floor.) And I believe there should be more guys who knit, feminist that I am.

Even so, knitting with my pals while visiting was the best of fun, I think for all three of us!

Once again, sorry I’m late. Crazy computer problems.

If anyone wants to join in the #ShareYourWorld fun, check out Cee’s Photograph. Her site is wonderful to look at and she has many fun prompts to play along with, whether writing or photography.

Have you ever participated in a distance walking, swimming, running, or biking event? Tell your story.

No. I haven’t done that. I would love to be in good enough shape to do it. On the other hand, I have been known to walk the 8-mile round trip to get my mail. Not very often, and VERY slow.

Name one thing not many people know about you.

I used to be a Shirley Temple fan. I knew all her songs and even tried to dress like her, curl my hair like her. Okay, it was sixth grade. What do you want? At the same time, she became a diplomat. She was a pretty good role model for a young girl.

What is your favorite flower?

There are two. Hyacinths

and Hydrangeas.

The first for the wonderful scent of spring. The second for memories of playing bride with my grandmother’s forbidden bouquets. I can still hear her yelling at me for picking them. That was in my Annie Oakley days.

Things I want to have in my home (paintings, hot tubs, bookcases, big screen tv etc)

Though I like to paint and look at paintings, I have never had much desire to add to my confusion but hanging things on the walls. I have a bunch of pictures I think about doing this with but can’t bring myself to mess us a perfectly good blank space.

I’d love to have a hot tub and a never ending pool. I love being in the water, I love swimming!

One can never have enough shelves or books! Even with my eye issues, I want a lot of books around me and the best way to organize books is shelves.

tumblr_ofw7m8B2r01qzb5wzo1_1280

Nowadays we are all watching our own things. A big screen TV seems like overkill.

I’d like my dishwasher to work, but we are doing fine with all of us keeping that up. I wish I had a built-in vacuum system because we are all bad at doing that chore right now.

images (7)

Hubby and I need new beds (he needs a reclining type). Our bedroom shower needs to be usable as getting in and out of my life-dream of an antique claw-foot tub is dangerous for us now. 😦

Mostly what we need is more outside storage, a shed to keep our tools in. A chicken coop that can be moved. A dog-run for Kali to be outside more–with a house and protection from predators.

While doing this dreaming, a few more windows need to be doubled for the weather. A working self-sufficient system for water and power, and heating. A swamp cooler might be nice.

A wrap-a-round porch me and a cat-io for my felines. And a lot fewer weeds as I know the three of us will never get this house protected by fire on our own power with hoes and rakes.

I don’t want much. 😉

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

At this point last week is so long ago. I guess that in itself is something to be grateful for. Getting the double recliner into the living room. Life is coming together for us. I still love it here and am so grateful for the wonderful people we have met here.

I’m looking forward to seeing my offspring as they tell me they are coming up soon! Yay! I’m so glad the weather is getting better so I can see family and friends from elsewhere.

Improvements… I Have Living Room Furniture!!!

I have been waiting a long time but now I have a sofa and a double recline. Bring on the company! This isn’t House Beautiful, but it is certainly Living Room Comfortable!

20170411_181953_edited

Sorry this is late. I had to photoshop vacuum the floor. With fibro and hubby’s bad shoulders, and brother working nearly all the time the real task doesn’t get done like it used to.

I didn’t find a place on my computer that I could crop photos. I messed with trying to get this out last night at midnight but the computer was frozen and I couldn’t do anything on my phone or tablet to fix the photo. Remember when everything was on these gadgets and if not you knew how to find them? I HATE windows 10!!!! Bring back files _I_ make! Organization was so much easier back in the day. Remember Commadore 64, and right around then before they made all these “Improvements”? Gosh, I miss those earlier processors that I could control!

I’m so sorry this turned into a rant but it is better than throwing my computer through a window!

But I am grateful for Living Room Improvements!

A built-in prompt (letter of the day) every day for a month!

#A to Z Challenge–H

Hosanna Day

I don’t mean this in a disrespectable way. Just a thought I woke up with. I was raised in Southern California. When I lived there I saw no use in the palm trees. They offer no shade in the triple digit heat. I miss those silly trees now.

Then there is the animal whose name is used in derogatory ways. But they are the sweetest of animals. Both palm and donkey are brought out and exalted on this day. Helps on think there is hope for everyone and everything at one time or another.

Sorry to be late to the H party of the #AtoZChallenge.

Given that Linda G Hill set up the prompt to begive/given/giving.   I thought I’d play along. Though I’d already written my #atozchallenge for the letter G this is a bonus gift I’m giving.

Today I am thankful for wonderful people in my life. Giving people, sweet people. Today our friends gave us a double recliner. We had to take it all apart to get it into the house but we all kept at it and finally got it in. It was so cold

It was so cold today, rain, snow, sleet, sunshine. We were exhausted by the time we got it in the house we left the cold living room to put it all back together tomorrow.

I promised to make a cozy handle for my friend’s loom pick. I’ll give it to her at the Hugger Hat meeting. It is all about the giving!

Does your first or middle name have any significance (or were you named after another family member)?

I was going to be named Georgeanne after my dad and grandfather. My grandmother changed my mother’s mind about that. I kind of always wanted to be called Georgy.

Music or silence while working?

Noise. I get too involved with music and silence causes my ADD/pain issues way too many problems. So TV. I don’t have to be watching. It’s just noise. Distraction.

If you had a special place for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronics, people or animals), what would they be?

First of all, if it isn’t one of those things it is probably no special. Breath is in my lungs. Blood is in my heart, love holds it all together and universal.

The Never List: What are things you know you never will do?

The only thing that I think is an impossibility and thereby a ‘never’. I will never grow younger. But if you discover time-travel… I’ll take it back! You see, I don’t believe that people can say what they would never do as they haven’t been tested to that limit.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Grateful for people who care and give when they can. New to us sofa, so cool! I can’t tell you what I am expecting, except that it will be a wonderful week.

Gratitude and Life

Today I am full of gratitude. I have so much to be thankful for, family, friends, pets, habitat. I think these are played up in my blogs often. But last night one of the things I was afraid to mention happened for real. We have a sofabed! It is used. But still looks quite nice and we didn’t have to pay a thing for it. You can’t tell what it looks like, and I knew if we were lucky to get one that this would happen. The first thing I did when it came in the house was to cover it. With a cat and dog that shed in white and a cat that sheds in black, there was no sofa that was going to look nice in the spring or summer without a cover I could wash. I should have taken a picture of it but cell was in the bedroom and only now did I think of it. I’ll try to share that later.

I have been wanting a sofa since we got to this house but somehow the budget couldn’t do it. Now, because local friends helped, I will have a place for company to sit or sleep. Since most of my family and friends are at least five hours away I wanted somewhere to entertain and put them up. This will help so much! And since it is under the picture window I foresee doing my knitting there as the room warms in this next season. Love brings love.

On a whole different topic: I thought it was spring. I went for that nice walk yesterday and though the wind and spitty rain threatened, it was actually comfortable for me in my sweatshirt covered in my windbreaker. Woke up this morning to snow on the ground. It didn’t stay long the rest of the day was a steady light rain. We hardly noticed as we did the ‘outside’ things today. Kali didn’t want to the first out but the rest of the day was easy peasy. We hardly got wet. So that’s a promise of nice weather coming. Yay!

Most of the day I spent watching NetFlix while loom knitting. I am still on sock number one for my brother. It is slow and tedious. My hands and eyes can’t do a lot at one time so I’m working on another Hugger Hat using the Andalusian stitch. It, too, is slow going but not so tedious that it hurts. Since I’ve already put the knitting away for the day I have no pictures.

I watched Pete’s Dragon. No Candle on the Water but it made me cry at the end.

Share Your World is brought to us by Cee’s Photography. Go check it out and come and join the fun! I cheated this time and read Joey’s answers first. I love her blog and read it nearly every day. Please see what she’s been up to!

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Oh, this is such a hard question to answer. My spirit is probably around 35-40. If my body let me do what I wanted I could probably give people of that age a run for their money. But I think I have aged 20 years in the last couple. I feel older than 90 in what I can do. Yet, I think having Kali around is helping me find my inner child. I think with the walks we’ll be taking this spring and summer I may find the ageless me again. By the way, here’s the latest: Kali listening to secrets and concentrating so hard while I give her kisses.

20170320_233611

So, you’re on your way out and it’s raining. Do you know where your umbrella is or do you frantically search for it all over your apartment/house?

I know where all my umbrellas are. I used to like the rain in my hair. But now, with glasses, I like protecting my eyesight more than my hair. If only there were windshield wipers for glasses! I do have rain boots and I think Kali and I may just take a walk in the rain soon. But will I be able to hold the leash and the umbrella? Maybe I’ll leave my glasses at home so I can forgo the umbrella. As someone said on Joey’s site, that’s why we have hoods on our coats!

Do you recharge your energy by going out with friends for a good time or by spending with quiet time alone?

I do feel recharged when I spend time with my friends, either real life or on Google Hangout. I feel drained if I try to connect by phone. I can feel very drained if I have to go somewhere to be with them and there are other people. The more people the more drained. YET my spirit is happy no matter how I connect. On the other hand, I LOVE time alone. There are times when my hubby goes to town and my brother is at work and so I get to be alone. I get so much done. I get to watch favorite shows or read text-to-speech with no headset! Or nap, or go outside with the dog and just enjoy nature. I’m happy either way.

Name three things you and your spouse, partner or best friend  to have in common.

My BFFs and my hubby and I enjoy reading, writing, Doctor Who and other Sci-Fi shows. We are Geeks and proud of it! And my BFFs are now loving loom knitting! So fun! If only I could talk my hubby into trying it!

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful for healing. I’m glad my hubby is feeling stronger. I’m grateful that I am feeling more energy and less pain. I’m grateful that Spring is here and the rain is here. That I can go outside without a coat and hat and bundled up. I love looking at the snow, but I hate having to go out in it. That cold makes me hurt. But Spring!!!!!

I am so looking forward to getting out and walking with Kali. It is going to be so fun. I am looking forward to coloring my hair–has it really been over 7 months? I don’t know if anyone else feels it makes me look better, but I always feel better once it’s done. I’m looking forward to feeling good enough to take the bus, with Kali and my new coccyx pillow. I think being prepared will help me weather the trip.

socsbadge2016-17

This stream of consciousness is due to Linda G Hill, hehe. Come jump in and float with us!

Man, I can’t believe that I still had to take it easy today. Yep, another nap day. I did get some done on the sock, but did nothing on the hat. That one seemed to hurt my arms so I backed off.

Wow, I wish my stream was moving! I guess I shouldn’t have waited until nearly midnight. There are some really cool things happening but I don’t want to jinx them by saying too much before they actually do happen. One I think I can claim is that one of my Hat Hugger friends is going to start helping me with my German. She only spoke German as a child so school was a nightmare for her. And she is moving her mother in to live with her and her mother speaks German even better, so I dread and look forward to learning the vocal language. I feel pretty good about reading it and doing the exercises on Doulingo but I know my mouth barely does English so I will have to force that social anxiety even farther. It was fun to visit her little homestead and hear her talk about her Pferd and Enten und Hühner und Hunde. It must confusing for folks who learn English when they hear the Queen’s English and those from New York and those in the south and we, who think we have no accent, in the Pacific area. Because when I took German in college, the teacher said things one way, and then to hear the speaker on Duolingo, and my new friend’s accent, the difference is so far that it is hard to understand. Apparently, her’s is of the northern area of Germany.

The prompt is Man by the way. I thought I would use it more than just that first word. My man is still healing from his broken shoulder and still working on physical therapy on his other shoulder, so we try to find the humor and not kill each other when we have the barometric pressures adding to our discomfort. At least it is warmer now. But the rains still mess with the roller coaster BP.

Do you remember how we were taught that if a child or animal are very emotional you lower your voice to help calm them? Well, when Kali first moved here she would be shaking so I would get very close to her ears and tell her secrets like how much I loved her and how good a dog she was. She listened so intently and often adjusts herself so that her ear is right next to my mouth so I can tell her more secrets. It is so cute! Somehow I have to get a picture of that. I also like to give her little kisses right there near her ear. She listens so intently that she starts sounding like she whispering secrets back. So much adorability in one small pooch!

Okay, the stream has hit a damn. Kali gets the last bark:

Man and woMan’s best friend!
