Just another beautiful sunset. Yawn. Just kidding. I feel so lucky to have this view from my living-room.

I wish my cell took a true picture. This isn’t as gorgeous as what my eyes saw.

In thinking of ‘J‘ words January came to mind. Doesn’t that seem years away? Hey, remember Just Jot It January? Ah, that was fun. I know we still had up our Christmas tree. That dim, cold memory needs to go away. Let’s stay focused on the future, June and July! That’s more my speed. Let’s just pray it isn’t another fire season. The news for our area is all about the draught.

In this journal, I like to keep track of my writing and editing. I am nearly finished with the goal of 25,000 words to edit. I feel it is doing its job to jumpstart my jam. 21,957 words thus far!

Suddenly I am finding the need to report my reward games. I finished Love Story–Beach Cottage and am trying a new one, for me. Mystery Case Files The Black Veil. Since I’ve had it a while and never played it takes a bit longer to journey through its lands and find all the jewels. I’ll play as soon as journaling is complete.

This has been another Monday that I slept through writing group not realizing it was Monday. How it is that keeps happening? Napping is so juvenile! But nightly the ‘outside’ trips jack up my sleep. Having this sweet dog is sometimes harder than when I had 3 jobs: going to college full time, working full time ,and being a single mom of four. But I love her and ad-just<–that ought to count!

Well, it is time to get out the joystick, well ‘mouse’ is for ‘M’ day isn’t it?

Have a Joyous week all!

I don’t know the difference between Streaming my Consciousness and blogging within the alphabet. I stream here because I am bad at keeping a journal by hand. Having these wonderful prompts moves me out of the ‘Dear Diary: today I breathed in an out’ syndrome.

Iceland, Ireland, Italy, all ‘I’ words I would love to see. Would northern Italy look any different than Iceland or Ireland? I bet they are all cold and snowy. Inland in the Outback of Oregon, it is cold again. Instead of going for mile long walks I sat here idle and shivering. Ugh!

If I don’t make this a short blog, I won’t get to the editing. And that is the only way I get to play my game as a reward. It took me three nights to finish Ravenhearst. Now I am playing Love Story — Beach Cottage. The game is the inspiration for doing the icky editing.

In case you were wondering what I was doing with the rest of my day, knitting and watching shows with my husband. I’ll show you the pics in a couple days when the items are more identifiable. I’m trying a new toy and still working on tons of socks, okay, maybe a couple pairs.

I am indifferent about a lot of things in the moment, especially the weather. But the way, my brother has been hitting the sagebrush out in our yard, I may be in love with our new patch of sand. That stuff had taken over during this past year making our place very vulnerable to fire. And the season is already starting.

best bro ever

Time to get off the blog and hit a few moments of editing so I can play before sleep. Ironic? Not so much. I just wanted to use the word.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “difference.” Whatever the word “difference” conjures first in your mind, write about it. Enjoy!

A to Z Challenge, H

Hello from CampNaNoWriMo!

How did I get here and why do I do it? Have you found yourself unable to quit something? I started writing a NaNo my first novel written in 30 days in which you should write 50,000 words, starting in November of 2001, post 9/11/2001. I was on the train commuting to work in Irvine, CA. I remember feeling deep sorrow and the thought, If only there was a peaceful planet out there, or some such wish. I couldn’t finish in November as we were getting ready to move. I did continue with the story between the Ides of March to the Ides of April. That planet gave me the name: Haven. This many years later I am still writing on the series that has taken over my life. I can’t even count how many novels I have worked on. I think it is about 15 now. As in the beginning I may start something in November, writing my heart out, mostly reaching the 50K but rarely do I reach the words ‘The End’. Spring brings me back to finish or edit. None of the books are ready for others to read. I may be great at throwing out the words and enjoying the story as it is revealed to me. Editing is not my specialty.

Having once again to be pulled in, this time with Pandamapocalypse that I wrote in 2020, is my Camp NaNo project. I am editing what I’ve written. Then my goal is to find ‘The End’ before the end of April. As of today I have edited through 20,360 words. I am getting to the part of writing near the end of November. The plot is missing nearly entirely and the words are mostly written for prompts. So a new outline is needed and figuring out where things go, then rewriting to give it all a cohesive feel. My heroes are doing their best to jump through the plot holes but I need to help them. I hope Haven gives me a hand as it is horrid hanging out in this writer’s hell. Soon I will join NaNoFinMo to learn hints to finish my novel.

Meanwhile, Hello and have a happy weekend!

Gorgeous view through dirty glass. The sun going down is the glorious part of the day. I am so grateful to have a view like this every day.

Gratitude continues with the editing progressing. 19,919 words processed so far. Before long I will be to the point of actually writing more on the story.

Gusty cold air prevented my taking walks two days in a row. I wish I had an indoor treadmill for these days. Grrrr!

Goodness will you look at the time? I am actually getting done early today. Maybe I will be able to finish my game and then finish reading my book. I HIGHLY recommend Caste by Isobel Wilkerson. I’m listening to it on Audible. Review to come in a couple days.

So without further ado and adding one more G:

good night

A to Z Challenge, E

Editing is not my favorite part of writing. But I am learning it is like doing dishes. Not my favorite part of eating a meal, ya know? So one way to look at that instead of an awful chore, it is the result of actually having something to eat. That is worthy of gratitude, you know? Editing means a whole lot of story came out and was a lot of fun watching the show in my head. The muse can’t help it if I can’t type it right the first time. That said my CampNaNo editing number is now 11,323. Enough of that. Pandamapocalypse is exciting for me. My chosen cover page below.

Energy was not my best friend today. I had another doctor’s appointment. That was fun. It’s sad when fun is going to the doctor. Everything was fine, just getting the yearly check-up tests done. My walk was a little later but that was extra difficult. It felt like I was pushing EVERY step of the way. Made a little over a mile. So another excellent ‘atta girl’ to me from me!

I’m so tired right now I can’t think of another E-word to save myself or even an elephant so I best go. I’m rewarding myself with a game of Return to Ravenhearst. I already found all the eyeballs, isn’t that gory? Not as awful as the spider that comes out of the doll’s ear. Take that! Two more e-words. I know another: Exhausted!

Who knows which prompt I am to grab today? Following the Stream, Who Am I? Yeah, those who know me will sing it out: 24601! I know. Campie! And to others, You’re Welcome!

Speaking of Camp-NaNo, I cannot quantify how much editing I got done as I mostly transferred the corrections from yesterday to the other programs that hold my stories: Scrivener, WriteItNow4, and yWriter7. I know it seems like quadruple the work, but I like aspects of each program, and I find if I do the first Grammarly or other types of edit in Word first, I see other things I need to fix with the ‘new eyes’ I find working it into the other processors.

CampNaNo was where I started to work on Pandamapocalypse. That was last year as we were all put in lock-down. And the story starts with three college women taking a final day together to celebrate one of their birthdays while doing a bit of target practice. The first takes aim and shoots. She hears Ouch! and that’s how they met a dragon. Much happens and soon they are meeting the virus up close and personal, Chatting with the virus they learn that viruses have feelings, too. But not before all chaos breaks out. Since there are nearly 74K words and I am only near the beginning of the editing, I’m finding the fun I had writing about a fictional world I could escape to as things in real life got scary. As my story progressed I found that I could include the science broadcasted at that time to our newsfeeds.

I’m looking forward to adding to the end of this book the vaccine and the slowdown of the virus. As in real life my virus, named ZOTci, adapts, we are seeing the COVID19 changing, too. What will I find when I get to that point and how will Haven (sentient planet, core of most of my novels) help?

Can’t leave without mentioning that Kali and I walked a mile today. I got to finish listening to JCS. Happy Easter or Eostre if you prefer.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “start with who/whom” Begin your post with either “who” or “whom” and go from there. Have fun!

A to Z, A

According to my goal I am to write something that reflects what I did for CampNaNo. The editing is hard to quantify I worked on twenty pages. I added no words. Yet when I copied and pasted the number of pages I worked on to a blank sheet it said I had 2,041 words that I wandered and did edits to some.

And on another note, I am trying to get back into taking my daily walks. Today I walked .86 whatever that amounts to. I think it might be over 3/4 of a mile? That’s what the app told me. So that is now added as part of my 16/8 keto-ish/fast-ish eating/not eating program. I’m still learning, adjusting as I learn. Adding the walking makes Kali happy. She wants me to run, but not yet, sweetie!

Anyone watching American Gods? I read it a few years ago. I remember being quite lost as I read but it all came together in the end. I am following this better, or maybe it is because I know what to expect? It isn’t even PG rated so if you are under 18 or don’t like sex or violence this might not be for you. I don’t like the violence and find the sexy parts hard to watch if my brother or son are in the room. But the overall story is pretty good.

Another goal I have in mind to integrate into April is practicing my piano or singing or both. On my walks of the last two days I have been singing with my Spotify-ed songs. So–check!

All of this while trying to get healthier through my finally decent medical insurance. All this tests and appointment after a year of sitting in the recliner awaiting the end of this darned pandemic.

Anyway, that’s all I got for A!

By the way, I don’t like practical jokes or April Fools and I love laughing and puns of all kinds. I just don’t like making fun of people in any way.

One-Liner Wednesday

Tomorrow starts A-Z and Camp NaNo, I can’t wait!

My goal is to edit the rest of Pandamapocalypse then actually end the book. I will try to use the A-Z prompt to write something that will fit into the book.

One-liner Wednesday is a fun easy prompt by Linda G. Hill.

Yikes! It’s getting late!

My tada isn’t yet another sock.

In fact, I don’t know how to show this in picture form.

I spent most of the day working on my NaNo novel from November. Camp NaNo is coming up, and I either want to write more on this story or get another outlined to write. I mostly edited and got q few scenes checked. I can see there are some big picture things to get right, but I have a hard time if the grammar and spelling are messed up. So I clean the smaller messes to see the big picture. Does that make any sense? The trees are getting in the way of the forest! So If I can get most of the trees out of the way within a week, I will rearrange the forest. That will help me know where to go next.

Meanwhile, I found a station on Pandora called Classical study time or some such that plays politely in the background. Although I get irritated when I hear Claire De Lune, Moonlight Sonata, and Für Elise played repeatedly. I like them all, just need to hear other things. And since they used to be in my piano repertory, I get distracted and want to play the piano. Music for a background is always more distracting than television. Good old reruns of favorite shows can go on for hours without my getting involved. Do other musicians or music majors have this problem?

I did start a mohair hat. It is a soft pinkish-orange. When I finished the socks, I couldn’t leave the Flexee looms sitting there without something on them—another obsession.
