Finishing Friday

As I promised the finished hat, now in the charity bag.

ChiaoGoo circular needles made this easy.

Heels are happening now.

Kali is helping me pose the picture but I couldn’t reach the other sock due to the puppers. In fact, the CinDWood fine-gauge loom has half the heel done.

Shoot. I can’t show you the other double pointed needle socks that are also at heel stage. I need my tutoring session to learn how to ‘turn a heel’.

Okay Word Count calls. Currently at 5,441 so I still need lots more before bedtime. See ya tomorrow!

Friday Eve

Works in progress.

I don’t know if I am more proud of the hat or finally used all that fuzzy yarn up. The yarn at the top is leftovers. Enough for toys, I guess. I’ll share the finished project tomorrow.
Progress so far.

I’ve only written 412 words so far today. Total in project 4,683. It’s fun so I need to get back to it. The family Pensées is so interesting! I know, it’s all in my head. LOL!!!

I asked my husband for a one-liner. He said all I should think is a novel. So I did. Thus I am late. Does it still count?

One-Liner Wednesday is a fun prompt

Happy Halloween/NaNo Eve!

Not much time. I still am developing characters and world building. The family Pensées is nearly made. Popeye (papa), Paris (mama), Olive, Poppy, and now working on her twin, Pepper, the three offspring. Then I need a frienemy like Brutus.

I think they are currently on a spaceship but I’ll need a world. Lots to do before midnight!

Me

To everyone else:

Flexee fine-gauge wool socks were farther along. The one on the bottom was that full ball finished. I didn’t like something so I had to tink back to the white part. I’ll have to do that to the top sock, too.
Ready to learn Turn heel.
This is the pattern I’m following in my knitting class. My next step is ‘Turn heel’ on the first sock.
Sock 2 cuff finished. Now on to the leg.
HiyaHiya Fliers sock cuff finished. Now I need to watch the YouTube for the next part.
One bamboo sock nearly to the heel. Sock number 2 nearly there, too. (CinDWood sock looms)
Almost halfway done with the Sunflowers.

I’m learning so much while having a great time. Oh. And here comes NaNoWriMo! First character is nearly formed. Pensées is the working title. Olive Odette Pensées is my first character. The story is starting to form. I can’t wait! Who’s joining me?

Two weeks!

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “key.” Use it as a noun, a verb, or use it metaphorically. Have fun!

“Key!” she shouted. It made no sense to me. What key? What did I need a key for?

She was pointing down toward the table in the mud room. There was a key. But why did she shout? What am I supposed to use it for? I barely had the time to think. A huge man was behind my mom. Suddenly she was tumbling down the stairs. It took me no time to realize she was dead. Her neck bent sideways at a ninety-degree angle.

Without another thought, I took the key and ran to the car. Luckily, those keys were in my pocket. I wasted no time getting out of town. This seemed an impossible mission. But we’d had so many break-ins at home and work that I knew it had something to do with me. In that sense, I was a key. People were being killed. People I loved.

An old motel just out of town offered me the respite I needed. While sitting at the old bed, hoping the bed bugs would be kind, I looked at the key. Not house, not car, bank? Why me?

These questions would have to wait. A strange sound came from the bathroom. A toy wind-up monkey?

Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is starts with “u.” Find a word that starts with the letter “u” and use it however you’d like. Bonus points if it’s the first word in your post. Enjoy!

Using the protocol taught by Undercover Spies United, Ursala peeked out from under her umbrella to observe the undertaking before her. Rain hit her in the eye, but she was persistent. Besides, it merely cleared her dry eye problem.

Usually, the minister conducted a eulogy over the casket. Instead, he seemed to be giving a puppet show to the mourners. The children were laughing. So unusual. But this was not a real person in the casket. The children’s network had lost a star. Ulysses, the underdog, had been a favorite for all. Uttering his last words while not using child-appropriate language caused his death.

Ursala had to make sure that it was all done tastefully. The network was still under contract. Another company was ready to use the dog once the make-over was complete. It was all understandable. Just unfortunate for Ulysses.

Finished the right third and top of middle third.
I took this when closing down yesterday. This was before I started on the middle. It is soothing, and cooling to work on this one.
This pair of slipper socks will be finished this weekend.
Toes done on this pair. It’ll take some time before they are done. They are bigger and finer-gauged.

On the writing front, I’ve entered a few more of my books into yWriter. I even worked on the memoir a bit. Now that I’ve moved into the new laptop I’m having a bit more time to get creative again.

It may seem I’ve been reading a lot. The fact is, when the electronics were down, I got behind in reviews and writing. Now I’m finally catching up.

Been busy. How was your week?

I’m grateful for my new laptop but have to admit my frustrations of starting over. All my writing in yWriter7 and WriteItNow and Scrivener are stuck in RTF form and tons of work awaits to bring them back to life. So that’s my time lately in a nutshell.

Sadly I have to report I didn’t get but half my word count goal this month. But I had a marvelous time with family and friends, so not really complaining. Just reporting.

Purple waterfall is nearly finished. Front lit.
Back lit
These charms are finished on both sides. I still need to apply sealant and then figure how to make the mobile out of them.
This is the next hand-held charm to work on. These are great for times when you don’t want to bend over the bigger pictures.
Barely made any headway on these. They are almost finished!
Started another pair of cotton spa slippers. I love this yarn my friend gifted me.
Today our three furries had a vet appointment. These two seem none the worse for the wear. Three hours in the non-AC truck can with all windows open. But their prognoses (is that plural?), Rosey, the black one is old but healthiest of the bunch. Not even considered overweight. Her seizures to be watched, nothing more to be done. Teddy, the ginger, has cancer sores in his mouth and had to get a steroid shot. And drops to take. He hates that.
Kali is old and has arthritis, is deaf, with cataracts. Nothing we can do but give pain meds. She is meandering as is her habit. That’s why the picture is blurry. It’s probably time for her meds . Poor babies.

While my brother and husband did the vet run. My son and I cleaned. He worked on the out of control mud room. I shampooed the carpets. It was nice not to have furballs in the way. We were successful in our ventures. Now I need to finish cleaning out the shampooer. Yuck!

The prompt from Linda G. Hill:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the first 2-5 words at the top of the closest printed matter.” Open (if necessary) the closest printed matter to you. Use the first 2-5 words at the top of the page any way you’d like in your post. Have fun!

It’s Never.

That’s right. It’s never. Different than forever. Different than now. Endings. They are as sure as beginnings. And just as unpredictable. ‘It was a dark and stormy night’ could easily be an ending as a beginning. Think about it. The main character feels solid in her growth and the reader knows there is no more story. Even still it could end because it was a dark and stormy night. Hey, better that than, It’s never.

What happens in never? Is Peter Pan the only one to deal with that? Never grow up, never grow old. Like that’s the worst that can happen? Never to have learned, never to have lived seems worse, don’t you think?

Somehow as I read the first two words of the Julia Cameron title, ‘It’s Never Too Late To Begin,’ somehow, I heard the ending of an argument between a man and woman and the woman is shouting, “It’s Never!” That shouted in my head. Maybe that’s the result of too many hours watching shows and hearing fights. Still, can you hear that argument?

“Well, what’s it gonna be, Mabel? When are you going to grow up” [staying with the aforementioned Pan] “Are you going to pay these bills? Now or ever?”

The woman grabbed her hoodie from the coat rack. “Never! You made these bills. You pay them. It’s never!” She donned the sweatshirt and pulled up the hood. The door slammed satisfactorily behind her. She smiled as she realized Never is a good place to be. It was a dark an stormy night. Her kind of night.
