Finishing Friday

Since the bear and other toy haven’t progressed at all since last seen they don’t rate a picture. I promise, this weekend I’ll stuff, sew, and make faces. On them and myself!

Does it count if progress was made then tinking had to happen? I’m almost to the point of the dreaded goof. Then the hat will become.
This hat shows promise. Two inches then time to decrease crown.
This latecomer hat is nearing end of brim.
Scrappy slipper socks farther along than before mad frogging. Ankles and cuff are all that’s left. Yay!
Starry Night is nearly finished. Tomorrow or Sunday. It’s inspiring my own inner artist to come out.
My Van Gogh sketch wants to be transferred to canvas then painted or pasteled. Scary. I’ve never done a painting outside of the occasional paint-by-number. Wish me luck!

I only titled it that way to remind me once again. It’s been every day of the week today. I hate it when it’s like that.

I’m sorry for not getting down to personal bits here. Seems I’m barely showing up since my little vacation. My rhythm is way off.

The only consistent thing is knitting. Here are the newest slipper socks I finished yesterday.

Sadly the cell didn’t pick up the deep purple.

Oops! Speaking of purple. My other constant. Though not as much time is spent diamond painting as I’d like.

I think of this as the purple planet. It goes with the book I’ve listened to while working on it.

Busy is calling. I’ll check in more tomorrow.

These Softies

These slipper socks were made on the Flexee fine-gauge 40 pegs looms. The yarn was so soft I hope the universe grants me more to play with.

My friend made the hat on the 36 peg Knifty Knitter loom while she was here for a visit. These go in the charity bag.

Making Monday

At least the sun still sets as it should.

Frogged two socks. And started over.

Brim of a hat done.
Water bottle carrier nearly ready for the strap.

If you still celebrate, Happy Fourth of July!

Time to look at works in progress.

Sock on the left ready to cuff. Sock on the right ready for ankle.
Almost done.

But if you’ve been following. I’m spending a lot of time reading. Even reading out loud. I know that seems something small. But my eyes have never been able to see to track and read properly, even though reading has always been my favorite pastime.

So I’m in training now so that my dream of sharing my books and podcasting will happen. I picked up

12Pcs Dyslexia Tools for Kids Dyslexia Reading Strips, Colored Overlays for Dyslexia Transparency Reading Guide Strips for Kids Correction Gel Lighting Filter (11.7 in x 8.3 in) to help me track better.

I will use these on books and computer screen.

I’m still checking out Librivox to read aloud books and Audacity to help record podcasts and books.

So busy!

I’m loving the sunset part of this lighthouse picture. This one is confetti so I work it like this:
I gather little bits of each color represented in the block I’m working. So far it works for me.

Sometimes I pop them on in a row, or by one color at a time. But I love to pop the drills on in checkerboard.

See the sun area? After checkerboarding I fill in the missing bits and find I don’t need to straighten the lines as much.

Now if only I could see the real thing. Diamond Painting does bring a bit of that peace.

A quick summary of everything else. I only skipped Morning Pages one day last week.

My memoir, Moving, is moving along but behind.

Two pairs of socks are growing row by row, much more slowly lately.

My hands found their way to play recorders this week.

My eyes actually made progress in reading real paper books. I do get tired still so I’m looking into ways to train my visual tracking.

Two books are waiting for reviews.

How was your week? Oh, and Have a great weekend!

The Artist Way, Morning Pages Journal.

That’s what I try to share here. Things that bring me joy.

The things I make aren’t professional, but I love working on projects and finishing.

Here’s one

Yahoo! 100 words extra! Already set up next month’s Junowrimo of 20K more. I miss dragons and planets but Moving (my newest working title of my memoirs) is more fun and more work than I thought it would be.

No pictures until totally finished and hung on walls but working on straightening, sealing, and framing my diamond paintings. I can’t wait to unwrap and kit up my next, a lighthouse for my husband.

No pictures, but continuing knitting a couple pairs of socks.

Spring brings me joy. The mesquite are starting to bloom. I’ll wait until full bloom to capture. But yesterday we caught sight of a bright yellow bird. I thought it was a finch. But today I got a good look. Unfortunately, he kept moving beyond my phone picture range. But I Googled what I saw. Turns out to be a Western Tanager.

Aren’t they beautiful?

And I’m writing this early as today is my last long drive. My final eye recheck is this afternoon. At least not early in the morning. Still, so many 5 hour driving days are so wearing. Maybe by July I will have recovered.

I think tired is the reason I’m not seeing more improvements. My eyes are tired and blurry. I hope to find ways to get better this afternoon.

Speaking of tired. I just realized, this is Tuesday!!!!

And Happy Tuesday!

I’ll probably finish these by Sunday. I really need to learn to pull the sock off the loom and onto circular needles as I feel I’m faster doing the rib cuff that way. Actually, learning to needle knit two at a time socks is still a huge goal. But for now, there might be someone out there who needs these socks. I have a bag of things to take to our charity. I can’t wait!

More progress on the dragon. I’m loving the ruler for straighter lines.

I spent about 3 1/2 hours. I’m so addicted to the meditative energy that even when hurting I keep dotting the diamonds.

I brushed on the frame for the sunset. Not sure I like it. Maybe I’ll try to get a regular frame. Or see if I can make it nicer.

All is not lost. More paint or actual frame. I kind of like the wood feeling up near the top. But not happy with the inconsistency.

My editing seems stalled. But maybe if I plant myself at the laptop right now, I can find my way to words–good ones, I hope.

How does a free blog site work when everything is tied to dollars? How do you create content without using proprietary themes when it seems even the colors and fonts are tied to upgrades for usage? Is it even possible? I hope to find out.
