I found a 4 pager that is fun to pianoize. I know I could play it easily when I was a young teen. See the star stickers? Yeah, I thought I was too old for cutesy stickers. Yet, my prof in college often gave us adult students stickers or happy faces. Oh, the old, boring age of adolescents! I should probably do a vlog ‘concert’ to see if I’ve improved since my last ‘warts and all’ vlog
This piece of fun for my recorder, uke, and violin. The challenge for my piano is to teach myself to improvise more. And the vocal range is easy.

I’m enjoying my music.

And there are times I feel my inner child do this:

So close to being done. Hopefully in time…
Almost to the heel. Hopefully, these will be way too big for me and fit one of the males in my life.
This shows the freezing fog of the past week is cleared. See that beautiful blue sky. It’s not gotten too much above 32 this week. Pretty. But the weather changing is still causing arthritic pains for we old folks.

Sadly, my NaNoWriMo stalled. Holding the laptop hurts, my eyes couldn’t focus, yeah, the changing barometric pressure affects a lot for me. So I changed goals from 50k, to 25k, and finally to 10k. Today I have 9,642, so I think I’ll meet that goal tomorrow.

Shadow Foxing is the title. Not about the furry animals, by the way. Character types.

So nothing is near finished–except the dragon. But happy progress is happening.

Back to work.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “blanket.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!
Snow started two nights ago.
See? A nice little blanket that lasted the whole next day.
And is still on the porch banisters today.
It’s not as thick as the sheets of music I’m enjoying playing with on my piano. I’ve made copies of favorites and new pieces. Taped together, I didn’t have to do page turns. Yes, the newest fun is Linus and Lucy Theme. As much as I love that and Dexter, I’m horrid at the rhythms presented. So my newest challenge is to get beyond “Nice cup of tea” triplet against duplets, and other syncopation and jazziness. All my new and old favorites are making me more passionate about my piano time. Okay. Thanks, Mom. 60 years too late, I suppose. But you knew I’d say it some day.

How does one thank those who have given you the most? Especially when they’re gone. In this case, I’m embracing the passion and challenges. Though I’m not naturally gifted. My mother blanketed me in lessons and learning discipline to practice. Or as I convinced my inner child, playing.

As I blanket myself in other musical fun.
Blankets of security and fun.
Nearly finished.

Sammie the Spidercat the furry lapcat who now can blanket my legs as I knit, crochet or scroll.

The best blanket. Feeling content and secure.

We’re making progress, despite the loss of male bits yesterday. Sammie was very scared and disoriented when he first got home. It was like he didn’t know any of us or where he was. By evening he seemed to feel more at home.

By the way, it was so nice of the spay/neuter team to come out to our everything desert on their weekend to take such good care of our puppies and kitties.

Today we had a couple lap sessions and recliner time. He initiated. I was elated.

Sammie seems a little more tired today, but very loving.

Because of him, and aches and pains due to weather changes, I’ve gotten very little done today.

NaNoWriMo isn’t going well either. I reduced my word count goal to 25k.

Even piano was a short session.😥

The only thing that might show progress:

Mostly working on the sky it is easier to reach. Hopefully, I can start working on the dragon soon. The lighting show how sparkling the gems can be.

I hope you had a happy, safe, thoughtful Veterans’ Day. Thanks for your service folks.

Finishing Friday

Just the neck and head of the dragon left. I have to work upside down to reach the top without hurting.
Watermelon socks finished! Yay!
He, finally, jumps into my chair seeking pets and love. He tolerates lap time. He’s very food oriented. A little treat gained the pets. Bigger reward, lap time. He’ll roll the ball back to me and gives high fives. (Oh, that book is my character development fav. And yes, my stationary bike is right in the way to force me to hop on and go!

My ‘practice’ journals and hobby journals are helping my progress. I’m finding myself wanting to play longer and more often on my instruments. Even the violin. I’m still trying to figure out tightening and loosening and rosining the bow.

Now NaNoWriMo. I’m three days behind. I hope to catch up but I am enjoying the story.

Finally finished with the heels’ decreases. In about three inches the socks will fly in the mail.
Just a few strays and I’ll be halfway through. I usually take 3-5 pictures. The first pic with back light, circle/magnifying light, piano light, overhead light. Each light gives a different feeling. But it seems my favorite is with just the overhead. It seems to make the ‘diamonds’ sparkle. The only trouble is you can see the glare of the protective cellophane. At my next sitting, I’ll turn it upside down and work up (down?).

Journaling my many hobbies has helped a lot in a lot of ways. But some things are hard to quantify. Or know of ways to talk about. Outside of pictures my yarn crafts just grow or are frogged back. The diamond painting doesn’t reflect well in journals either.

Then there’s the boring things like stationary bike time/distances which doesn’t change much. Duolingo has its own goals and rewards so I don’t journal. Although… Maybe it’s time to take notes and keep track of new vocabulary?

The piano journal is helping a lot! If I read the notes from my last run of a piece I see the problem spots.  If it’s a big problem I start there then play the song. I’m beginning to love my piano time. That’s worthy of a FINALLY!

Oh, and my violin journal is freaking out with successes. No, I’m not ready for Carnegy, but full tunes. Not feeling like hiding the instrument in the closet is PROGRESS!

That’s probably enough for now.

Oh, NaNo is started but I need to get another 800 words before bed. I have no title or know where it’s heading. Best get busy!

Reading Dragon Diamond Painting is nearly halfway done. This one the glue and dots aren’t easy to line up properly.
Since taping pieces together it is harder to organize. But no messy page-turning.
I plop the piece I finish playing wherever then hop on the next. I’m starting to enjoy the piano again.
No, I’m not making money at this but I’m finding old ledgers are working for keeping track of what I’m doing.
After I play a piece I write the date, and how often I played the piece or section. I’m honest. Sometimes just reflect my thoughts. I even give myself a grade. I’m the only one in class so I judge with how I used to play it, or most recently played. I include my feelings of joy as much as disappointment. I do not write well with the journal in my lap. I can barely see at that distance.
Here’s for my other instruments.
Here are some of my ukulele workings.
And violin. I’m feeling I need more help with violin. Yes, this was a ledger I used for bills way back in 1999.
The increases for the heel are nearly finished. So I may be nearly finished with this pair.
The base of a small basket. The yarn works or artworks don’t seem to journal well. Any suggestions?

I’ve tried to place journals everywhere I can sit. Just in case I want to keep track of thoughts or life. It’s interesting. I’ve never done this but we’ll see how the experiment works.

Two names have popped up as characters for NaNo. It seems the random guys are not so wholesome. Possibly cagey or shadowy. Not my favorite but when you go random that’s what you get to work with. I plan another couple random picks so I’ll be ready for the night of writing dangerously.

I’m thinking with the losses this year I may spend some reflective time for Dia de los Muertos. Maybe a nearby journal will be the place for those thoughts.

Playtime!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “mug.’” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!
During fasting time (before 2PM) these mugs help me gain health and energy. I love the glass. I can see bits of the ‘mother’ in my vinegar drink. I know they aren’t harmful but they look like worms. So I fish ’em out. 1 teaspoon of Bragg with bottled water. Then coffee. I should have caught the mug while the coffee was frothy.
This is my reward mug. I prepare Matcha tea, whisk and all, for my post-piano time. I sip it during my diamond painting time (see reading dragon progress below).
Mmmmm. It must be Matcha o’clock (1ish) This mug is a small bowl later for yogurt or popcorn.
The wisdom of a Matcha mug.
But here’s my favorite mug. By the way, we call my brother, Dad, as he’s been caring for the ferals outside. And he finally was able to bring this handsome guy in. He filled in the vet permit for vaccines and neutering. SAMMIE is how he spelled it. So, Sammie the Spidercat it is. Why? He loves the three-legged spider and I find he likes the Spidercat song as his theme song.
This is a couple weeks ago. Gosh, he has grown! Maybe we have a tiger here?

One pair of shortie slippers finished.
Since the needle were empty it was time to start another set. Turkish cast on and toe increases finished.
Reading dragon is coming along.
Look who’s playing in the cat tree! Sammy. He’s a boy, by the way. Confirmed.
Isn’t he the cutest? We still can’t touch him he loves playing with the humans.0

Soon shots and fixing. But he seems healthy and adapting

See the line on the right? I only needed to cast off but I made a good on the left sock and spent the day tinking back the five rows of ribbing. Hopefully they’ll be done tomorrow.

I’ve begun to keep journals next to every activity. Some I do well keeping them up. Like the piano one. I write what I play, work on, and give myself a grade and suggestions for the next time I play it. I think it’s helping.

And I’ve started copying favorite pieces from books I had as a preteen. Now I can tape pages together so no annoying page-turning.

I was happy because I finally got caught up on the book reviews. But nope I finished another last night. Oh, well, I’ll get to it tomorrow or Thursday.

The most discouraging of my music fun is the progress on the violin. I guess I need to find a YouTube tutorial that addresses my screeching bowing. Too much resin? Not enough? Bad fingering? Who knows? I wish I had the money to get lessons on ally instruments.

I’ve finally started the heel on these.
This pair is nearly ready for a heel. Maybe an inch more of the arch ribbing.
My new recliner diamond painting is ready to set up. This guy is cool! I can hardly wait to get started.
My new project. Ponytail holders. The red band will probably not show once I crochet the lime green around it.
Info about the yarn.
I had made progress of about 4 rows but found an oops. Can you see the blue marker in the top of the sock on the right? Ugh. I felt watermelon would make me feel better these days. Oh, well.
No light shows progress on my sunset beach diamond painting.
With the back light on bright you can see my progress into the water. Me stepping in…

I’m finally getting my piano groove going again. I’m keeping sessions short and as successful as possible.

I finished all but the Dexter movie. Can’t seem to find it. But both series(es) done. I miss the music. Trying to find a good piano copy of the sheet music of the beginning theme and end theme.

My allergies kept me from the recorders. I don’t like playing them with a sore throat or sneezing.

I am finding progress on my Enya Ukulele. Even my B flat seems right every now and then.

Time to play!
