Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fortune.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Fortune wasn’t a lucky lady. She stepped on a nail as a colt and now limped along.

Her owners must have felt unfortunate, as she would never be the great racehorse they’d bred her to be. But Fortune smiled her horsey smile. That nail was attached to blade. A step to one side or the other would have sliced off her leg.

As she took a step back, she saw this blade would hurt anyone passing this way. She kicked it off the cliff. No longer would it pose a threat.

As she hobbled she danced. Hers was the beautiful pasture. Fortune’s fortune.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “page.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!

” Page 77 everyone,” the teacher announced.

A classroom of students shuffled as they pulled textbooks from backpacks. Books pounded the desks. Pages fluttered as everyone found their places.

Sue moaned quietly. Not another story of rainbows and unicorns. Well, the unicorns were fine but why did they think all girls wanted princesses and all that fluff.

If Sue wrote a story, there would be peasant girls. There were more of them than the spoiled, weak, brainless royalty.

A pheasant walked by. It seemed to want to make sure of spelling. “Hhhhhh.”

“I’m not writing about beautiful birds this time, thank you.” Sue was always polite.

“I want a story about dragons. Smart dragons. Not a knight or sword in sight.” Her pencil raced across the page. “Who needs royalty?”

Suddenly the girl next to her kicked her desk. “Psst!” She hissed. Sue was always jealous of her friend. She always had that perfect pageboy.

Suddenly, she had a young page telling the dragon how to slip by the castle unnoticed.

Her pencil drew the scene. One line squiggled wrong. She erased, blew off the eraser bits.

Her friend coughed. “I’m sorry!” Sue said as she smoothed her friend’s hairdo.

“Sue, look. We’ve turned the page.”

Sue caught up and saw a picture of a dragon holding a young person who was reading an announcement.

Sue was excited and said aloud, “A page!”

I was going to write a long stream but I’m caught up in this newest binge and I can’t let go.

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and my very first birthday-Stream-of-Consciousness-Saturday is: “icing on the cake.” Write about the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the phrase “icing on the cake.” Enjoy!

Remember how I felt I was finished with my Doctor Who Starry Night Diamond Painting? I had thought poking in the last few diamonds, cover with protective, glossy, Modge Podge would be it. But finding those last few empty spots to fill, figuring out what number you are looking at, even with a magnifying glass, seemed nearly impossible. But I was now down to one or two spots. I reached over to look at my Fire to hit the pause. Instead, I knocked over the full container of the number I was aiming for next.

The icing on the cake was finding most of the gems fell on the floor. That’s when I learned how many had fallen since I started the project. A quick sweep produced a huge pile of multicolored plastic bits and hair and dust. Yuck! I need one of those cute little vacuum cleaners made just for diamond painters. I spent most of the day cleaning the mess. Then I finished the popping on diamonds. And finally organized the leftovers from this project. As soon as I cover the painting with the gloss and paint on a frame I’ll take it’s last picture.

I can’t wait to start my next and actually my first DA project. I ordered it LAST January, received it last June. But my friend gifted this Doctor Who to me and my other friend and herself. So it became a group project. It was fun chatting and working together on Zoom.

What I am reporting isn’t a rainy day. We’ve been having strange weather. Freezing fog that makes everything looks eerie. I had to take pictures at about 10 this morning. Some of the fog had started to burn off. Wish I would have had my phone handy when I took Kali out at 6.

That is not snow. Frost, I guess. But in this last picture Kali is strutting to her favorite part of the yard.

By the way, if you saved up for a rainy day, would you leave your cozy abode to go spend it? Let’s save for life. Let’s enjoy the umbrella and boots and mud puddles!

Just something I learned since posting this:

https://www.rgj.com/story/news/local/leader-courier/2019/12/06/native-americans-feared-pogonip-white-death/4363158002/

In the moment, I feel uninspired. In the moment, I feel accomplished.

Another pair for charity.
The next pair toe to foot.
In the moment, I wish I had a TARDIS I could fly away on. But that might take energy and/or inspiration as to where or when to go. Instead, in the moment, I prefer to be knitting or Diamond Painting.

Enjoy your weekend! I’m enjoying mine!

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “In the.” Start your post with the words “In the” – that’s the prompt! Enjoy!

Wow! Can you believe we are back to January in a year that can look like this Y2K22? Beginning Just Jot it January, again, a prompt to write on everyday. Today’s blends with the Stream of Consciousness Saturday with the word prompt appropriate for the day, resolve.

Resolve according to Dar’s silly dictionary is to repeatedly solve. Which is how we all continue an insanity every year. Resolutions have been proven unsuccessful most of the time.

My friend and I choose to sit and write out possibilities. Last year I saw a possibility of getting healthier. It took the whole year adjusting eating habits losing over 30 pounds. And Intermittent Fasting has been the best, easiest method of my life.

This year will mean a possibility of more movement. More music making. More art enjoyments. Of course more knitting. But I’m determined to knit socks on circular needles, flippies  or whatever they call those bendy short ones, and I want to learn to use double pointed needles. Right now, loom knitting is fast and I don’t lose stitches. But I am determined to be able to use any of these methods.

I see myself writing more letters and cards. And speaking of writing, I see those many books edited and finding readers.

I see people being kinder to each other. So let’s see if we can make this and more come true!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “yum.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Today was a beautiful Christmas day. I got to use my new Instapot Air Fryer. My husband bought a bag of my yellow potatoes and cut them up according to directions. After spa treatments for 20-40 minutes I layered in two servings into the pot. After twenty minutes my husband and brother had their fries. Then the second round went through for my son and I. Yes, they were yummy but this wasn’t enough, even though everyone had two helpings.

Part two of the meal was far harder than I expected. Four leg quarters, frozen. Sounded easy enough. After all I managed a whole turkey, albeit small for Thanksgiving.

But the quarters were frozen solid in a way that wouldn’t fit the pot. So microwave defrost for more than a half hour. Finally, my husband and I chopped them apart. Once again, I divided the eating teams. Instapotted two while I pulled out my pressure cooker to cook the other two. Instapot was 21 minutes. Pressure cooker only 8. Which should have the insta? Both got the air fry treatment. Both tasted yum! But that dinner left a lot to be desired while using far more kitchen and strength than it should. We will have to rethink how to best use Instapot and air fryer. Mostly I eat salmon and salad or spinach or spring mix. In fact, I haven’t eaten chicken for 40 years. I’m glad we didn’t have company. So, it was a perfect Christmas?

No, really, it was a Wonderful Christmas. I hope yours was, too.

So busy trying to make the opposite sock to this one.

Doubt it will be opened on Christmas.😢 But it’s the love, right? No one spends weeks knitting out of the opposite of love. That results in another kind of sock.

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “opposites.” Use the word “opposites” or write about things that are opposites. Have fun!

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “tree.” Use the word “tree” or write about a tree. Any kind of tree. Enjoy!

When I saw the prompt I planned a whole different stream. I thought it would be about putting our Christmas trees up, today. But it has been so cold and windy that all I could do was knit under the electric lap blanket.

The other topic was going to be about working on my diamond art projects. I did watch a bunch of YouTube videos about how to get started.

The only way this stream hits the word ‘tree’ can only show up is how our trees are bending towards the east from these horrible cold winds. We have been promised snow. But I beginning to feel deceived.

Once it snows it’ll be warmer. The humidity makes everything better.

This was a few weeks of ago. The trees are naked now. I hope they are still standing tomorrow.
