Per Linda (even though her whole family has Covid! Dedication!): Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “walk.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Walk on By

…if you find my choice of entertainment boring, disgusting, or scary. But when the Internet is iffy like the last few days we pull out my son’s collection of The Walking Dead DVDs. He has almost all of them. We are at the Season 2 Episode 3.

Well, there’s one that should have walked a little more.

Let’s take Ms. Warwick’s let’s walk on by

Wish I had a place like this to walk. But walking with a dog makes every path more fun.

Making Monday

Didn’t go half as far today. Even at 11am it was too hot and humid. Tomorrow we need to walk far earlier or evening.

Instead, I thought I’d better capture the greenery while I can. We are green usually only early Spring. But here we are nearly July when yellow and hot dust is the norm for the desert Outback of Oregon.

Looking south. The hay barn has the first cutting of alfalfa.
Looking south-west.
The sagebrush is taller than me! But still green.
I don’t know if this is edible but it looks like wheat. All similar plants are green.
Looking northish. Just enjoying the green scenery.
Looking west towards Table Rock mountain. So green!
Another looking northish. Sky blue with green fields.
The yellow butterflies from the beginning of summer have faded away. Now we’re getting white ones. This one has spots and is showing off!
The science says this proves the high moisture in the air. But I’ll accept love and promise, too. But really, the humidity is part of why we had to cut the walk short.

So, I think I know what I want to wear for my daughter and her fiancé’s October costume wedding.  Crone witch! I can make my own hat and cape! The crone part is built in!🤪

So at the beginning of the weekend I was working with Scarlett Royal’s loomknit witch’s hat. But I learned there would be a lot of sewing.

I had socks on the Flexes so I transferred by way of a skinny set of ChiaoGoo Red-lace Circular Needles. I had started on the 12 peg  loom for the brim and the 36 peg for the hat. That was when I noticed I’d have a lot of sewing ahead.

In the past, I learned I could do a nice decrease using the Flexees. But for this witch hat I needed to get a good point. I didn’t feel I could figure that out. Here’s her YouTube if you want to try.

I have made a couple hats by her including a beret I was quite proud of. And I do love the picture of this hat.

I think this next one by PleasantSeas may do the trick. After tinking and frogging all weekend, I found and started working on it.

I read the pattern featured on the YouTube page. That I can do. I told myself. It starts similar to my Toe-up Two At A Time Socks. So I followed the pattern about 17 rows in. Then I noticed that it seemed the author got the numbering wrong. Once again, my tracking was off. Still I was liking how it was turning out.

Here’s what I should have done:

But here’s what I have at Row 17.

Yeah. I’m stuck with the Knitter’s Pride Royale circular needles. See how the cord coils up? Ugh! But all my other needles are in use.

Anyway, I think I’ll continue as I am going until the “wearable” part of the hat gets close. Then I’ll increase faster as PleasantSeas does. I think I want the point high or curly. We’ll see how that turns out.

Meanwhile, the socks I pulled off the Flexee looms, looks like this:

Two more inches before the Fleegle Heel. These would fit me right now. But these are for someone else.

Sadly, the Flexees are empty. Back to just needle knitting for now.

But now I need to drop the needles and hop on the stationary bike to see if I can make up the mile(s) we missed this morning.

Making Monday

Finally the heels are done on this bamboo yarn pair of socks. The leg and cuff are left. That doesn’t take long. So maybe these will be featured on Finished Friday?

Four miles on the stationary bike and three walked. Woo hoo!!! I’m tired! I hope all this starts paying off somehow.

Here’s what made me happy.

A bit of dragon head, wing, background.

Here’s the healthy.

Kali, Chris, and I. 👍

Kali was cute. Last time I tried to take her for a walk she wouldn’t let me put her harness on. She had to stay home.

Today I was putting on my shoes. She let me know she didn’t want to be left behind. She laid still while I put on her harness.

Oh the walk she wanted to jog. So we did a few steps. Then I got winded. She pulled on me.

We went down a street we haven’t walked for a while. I nearly had to pull her. Once we got to our street, she knew where she was and wanted to run. I gave her a few more jogs then back to walking. She pulled me again.

Kali is tuckered out.

Finishing Friday

I had so hoped to be finished with my dragon tonight. But I will be by the time I go to bed. Here is where the progress stands.

So rather than chat about it, I plan to get back to it.

Just a quick side note. My husband and I walked a mile today. It was very nice. I prefer his company to Kali’s. She didn’t want to put on her harness. So she got left behind.

Back to the dragon…

Making Monday

Scrappy socks are nearly finished. Most of the pair are made of the Mani-Pedi crew color yarn. The toes and heels are scraps from the previous pair I made. I’m loving how they are working up.

We lived through the triple digit hot Sunday. Today was sort of hot but not nearly as bad. Tomorrow is supposed to be 72. I might wear jeans and T-shirt instead of shorts and tank-top what a relief! I might take a nice walk as air quality is also supposed to be good for a change.

Toothache Thursday

Okay. It isn’t horrid. I have had a couple visions of an ice skate (Castaway). But I’m not to that point yet. In fact, I have an appointment to see:

Not as worried about the tooth. It is more the ride and the chair pain. Any suggestions?

One-Liner Wednesday

Another day, another walk.

Nope, that’s not us. Hubby and I have on hats. The dog is Kali, white with spots. No walking sticks. No trees. Just desert.

One-Liner Wednesday is a prompt by Linda G. Hill.

Forgot GLASSES!

Forgot CELLPHONE!

Forgot Water!

I didn’t realize I forgot those last three until a mile in. We just marched on. Kali quite proud to get to lead the way. We both wimped a little at the corner house with the three barking dogs. Kept a short leash and only a few whines and “Sh’s” but once past I let her lead the way. She knew where she was going and remembered her favorite marked spots.

When we got to the next big street she decided to turn. We hadn’t gone down that dirt street before so it was an adventure for both of us.

See that haybarn? That’s where we were at this point. WAY OVER THERE!

I was worried that we would meet up with loose dogs. In fact, I thought I saw one ahead. That’s when I realized I only had on sunglasses. Got closer and realized it was a Jack Rabbit. Duh! Now Kali was aware! We have great things to chase here! I told her we don’t chase them, they are bigger than she is!

Seeing the rabbit seemed to give Kali a boost. She gave off a more confident air and marched with her head raised. Even though we were the next official street over we could see the back of our house. That’s when I noticed I didn’t have my cell with me. I kind of wanted to call and tell Hubby to look out the window to wave, but alas!

We got to the next street sign. I couldn’t read it until on top of it. Then I saw that the sign had worn out so that only a bit of the word showed up. But in the faded background, I saw the whole name. I knew this street went straight through to my own. I also knew it connected close to a house with a loose dog. Gulp.

What I didn’t know was there are two homes between where we were and where we needed to go. Gulp number two. What if there were other loose dogs?

Safely by the two nice homes with nice little fences and no barking dogs, we got to the corner of our street. Now my biggest fear: DOG HOUSE! Luckily said dog didn’t come out to either greet me as has been in my experience in pre-Kali days, nor was that dog sitting outside. We got past that house with a bit of a ‘whew’ when from across the street we heard barking. I pulled the leash close and said, “Heel!” Kali stayed close. Dog didn’t come out. We were safe. I call that house (across from ‘dog house’) Statue House because there is a statue of a frontier guy in that yard. I don’t know the people of either house but I like their unique yards.

Now safe I told Kali to take us HOME. She smelled her marked spots and led us straight here. I pulled out a treat. She smelled it but didn’t take it. She just Marched to the back porch and into the house. As soon as I took off her walking garb I offered her the treat again and she took it to her bed and enjoyed the heck out of it.

Though a little tired, I marched into my room proudly to see if I couldn’t figure out how far we went. Are you ready for this? 2.3 miles! Yay! I know. It isn’t like those 6-8 mile trips we took last year but I am still alive after this walk. Those walks KILLED me. I think if I work up to it I will find those walks more fun. Especially with Kali!

She’s pooped!

An hour later?

Me:  Wanna go for a walk?

Her:  Again? Nah, that ‘s okay you go ahead. I’ll wait right here. Yawn!

Kali Sees Something is Up

20170314_122511

Hey, MommaDar! Come down and walk with me. You have on your clunky Crocs so you’ll be okay.

20170314_122422

I see spring all around. But do you smell that?

20170314_122209

I think it is the dog in the sky. I think I smell that wet stuff.

20170314_133355

And the same stuff over there.

20170314_133355

And do you guys know what MommaDar said to me? She said that wet stuff is called rain. And rain is what makes this:

20170314_133029

She calls weeds, I call grass and I like it to chew.

20170314_133035

That turns into this which makes MommaDar A-choo!

20170314_13321120170314_133324

But the buds on these trees, especially the little apple tree makes her happy. So the Wet Stuff can come help us. Thanks for walking with me!
