Category: Cats

Our lives feel weird. We are blessed. But we admit to questions. My husband and I don’t necessarily believe in reincarnation. And in the case of the new cat who was born while her doppelganger lived with us it seems impossible. Oh, and by the way, we’ve finally got the close under the skirt, to find Shiloh is female.

So, we had Teddy from the time he was a young kitten.

Rosey was 12 when we rescued her.

Kali was an older dog when we adopted her.

Over a year ago we lost each ine over the rainbow bridge.

We felt the losses profoundly.

Even as we felt that, we knew there were furry friends who needed new forever homes.

Ginger=Teddy, Black cat=Rosey, Black and white dog=Kali

Manifesting, prayers, the screaming cries of our souls?

We are each feeling the gratitude and wonderment. We didn’t seek out replacements. As my vision board showed, I needed a small dog. My specifics were merely someone small enough for me to pick up.

Yet, somehow we got Sammie

Who is in hiding from the barking dog, he’s hiding near and behind the fridge. He’s getting braver.
Shiloh who is afraid of nothing.
Milo, our new doughnut dog.

Cat and dog doppelgangers. Living the dream.

This is me gently playing the A-Z challenge. Yes, I’m a day ahead but who knows how long that will last.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œawe/aww.โ€ Use one, use both, use โ€™em any way youโ€™d like. Bonus points if you fit them both into your post. Enjoy!

Funny you should bring these as our prompt.

New pets are awesome. Their cuteness brings out our musical “Awwwws”

But cleaning the accidents or taking the dog outside? We are at the, “Not it!” Stage. And when it seems you are the only choice, the inner grump attaches the leash and mutters, “Aw, shucks!” Or other more forceful quotations.

Yeah. We’re there.

“This, too, will come to pass.”

Who can refuse this face?โค๏ธ

It Takes a Lot

To get this guy to this point.

Such a sweetie. This is rare. Rather four adult humans are taking turns taking him outside, preventing his too exuberant play with Shiloh and soon, Sammie.

As of today we’ve named him Milo. He actually comes to that moniker.

Chris goes to bed early and gets up at 3. That’s when I go to bed.

I keep reminding myself of the days when we first got Kali. I often said she was harder to deal with than my 4 children ever were. But years later when she grew old, senile, blind, and ill, I loved her so dearly, a year later I’m still getting tears thinking of her. So, I know this new stuff will fade and our friendship will grow solid and strong.

We miss Sammie and his confidence. Today he finally came out to the living room. He and Shiloh met. I think they will be friends. But poor Milo has so much energy and it scares them.

It’s a work in progress. Oh, did I mention we got spoiled by two days of 70 degrees? Yeah. Beautiful. Walk that pup!

Today is cold and windy. Rain and snow is expected by tomorrow and for the rest of the week, into the weekend.

Walking in this cold is hard for me, especially while trying to train Milo to heel and do his business. So far he only waters little bushes. He saves the other for the warmth of the kitchen. So yeah, a lot to learn for all of us.

That’s it for Shiloh, Milo, Sammie and their humans.

Oh! I almost forgot! Shiloh loves to play the piano. For that I nearly renamed him Ebony.

Not my cat, not my piano.

One-Liner Wednesday

Really, it’s Wednesday; since Sunday we have been on the same rollercoaster as parents of a newborn, taking shifts, calming noises, cleaning accidents, having fun, bingeing Caesar shows about getting along with dogs.

A part of One-Liner Wednesday.

Not so good pics

Shiloh is out during the day. Still no good face shots, and he’s beautiful!
Yeah, he’s taking over the cat tree. I can’t wait for Sammie and he to get together.

For the Record, First 48

I’m not going to bug him. So, no new pics. He’s being quiet right now. Cruchy-Coffee Bean-Snoopy has us on 24 our watch. We’ve all decided on Snoopy, even if he doesn’t quite look like the comic canine. I believe Coffee Bean works better, but I was outvoted.

We are all tired. He’s sweet. But he can bark! Both cats are in hiding. I haven’t seen Sammie since the dog came in. And the barking has him hiding under my bed, not even coming out to eat.

Shiloh is hiding until all the humans get quiet. He came out to play with Snoopy around eleven last night. He has gorgeous green eyes that you can feel staring through you. He came out and played with Snoopy. He ran up and parked on the top of the cat tree. He looked outside for a while, and when I got up to take a picture, he returned to his hiding place. So, sorry, there are still no pics of him.

Snoopy’s problem is humans. He comes from a single-mom family with a bunch of kids. No men. Here, four adults who live moving about the house cause barking. He doesn’t recognize us if we go into the bedroom or bathroom and come back out. This happens all night, all day. When we talk to him, he realizes we are good but forgets shortly after we move about in our house.

He pulls while walking in our yard. My knee has been yelling at me, so I do the Ceasar thing and stop when he pulls so I don’t injure myself further. Chris has to do that, too, as his stability can go awry. Mostly, Snoopy wants to run us all over the yard. The younger guys of the house will have to help him with that.

He’s so cute, though. When he gets too hyper, he grabs his blue bunny rabbit, which is bigger than him. He gives it some shakes, then cozies up and will fall asleep with it. Again, sorry, no pics with puppers and bun-bun.

Yes, he’s pretty messed up. Apparently, this was his favorite toy at his old house.

Yeah, not ten. We are down to six mice. Sammie loves his mice. He uses them for human enrichment.

‘Where’s your mouse Sammie?’ He leads us to the place he wants to watch us search.

He likes to push a mouse under my brother’s bedroom door. Once it’s under he flips it across the room. David is forced to look everywhere in his room. But only Sammie knows where the mouse is hiding. When David brings the miniature tiger into his room, the ginger points straight to the missing mouse.

Then when we are all watching TV in the living room, Sammie plays fetch with the mouse, bringing it to David to throw again and again. Clever kitty!

Clever Sammie!

One Liner Wednesday

One-Liner Wednesday
What?

I forgot the pedicure!

Your prompt for #JusJoJan the 25th and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: โ€œin line.โ€ Use it any way youโ€™d like! Enjoy!

Thinking in this post all day should have given me more inspiration than my original idea. But here it is.

It amazes me what one bit of yarn knits or crochets into a garment. One string kept in line can make something soft and warm.

One string attacked by a cat makes a puzzle. So best keep cats and yarn in line.

One-Liner Wednesday

Since the special on Christmas, Sammie wonders if his cat tree can be a TARDIS.

Happy New Year, Linda! JJIJ and One-Liner Wednesday

It’s Beginning

To look a lot like Christmas with a new kitty!

Notice the trees only have knitted balls. And it’s snowing.

Every day we are putting them back up, rescuing stray balls. But wouldn’t trade it for anything. I really needed Sammie in my life.
