And that is how this hat came about.

And that is how this hat came about.

After sealing one of my dragon diamond paintings, I found a need to do something while listening to my newest Libby. I remembered a few years before we moved I had gathered plastic bags. I took the time to fold them so they would be ready to start cutting the strips. Today seemed like a good day to get some plarn going. Here’s my process.

Keep looping and soon there is a ball of plarn to knit or crochet

I still have a lot of bags to process into plarn. Unlike when I first started recycling plastic bags, when bags needed to be recycled, now there are fewer bags due to laws. So I’m planning to be more conservative with what I have.
I’ll let you know how I decide to use my new plarn.
Happy Sunday!

Time to look at works in progress.

But if you’ve been following. I’m spending a lot of time reading. Even reading out loud. I know that seems something small. But my eyes have never been able to see to track and read properly, even though reading has always been my favorite pastime.
So I’m in training now so that my dream of sharing my books and podcasting will happen. I picked up
12Pcs Dyslexia Tools for Kids Dyslexia Reading Strips, Colored Overlays for Dyslexia Transparency Reading Guide Strips for Kids Correction Gel Lighting Filter (11.7 in x 8.3 in) to help me track better.

I’m still checking out Librivox to read aloud books and Audacity to help record podcasts and books.
So busy!

Sometimes I pop them on in a row, or by one color at a time. But I love to pop the drills on in checkerboard.

Now if only I could see the real thing. Diamond Painting does bring a bit of that peace.
A quick summary of everything else. I only skipped Morning Pages one day last week.
My memoir, Moving, is moving along but behind.
Two pairs of socks are growing row by row, much more slowly lately.
My hands found their way to play recorders this week.
My eyes actually made progress in reading real paper books. I do get tired still so I’m looking into ways to train my visual tracking.
Two books are waiting for reviews.
How was your week? Oh, and Have a great weekend!

That’s what I try to share here. Things that bring me joy.
The things I make aren’t professional, but I love working on projects and finishing.
Here’s one

No pictures until totally finished and hung on walls but working on straightening, sealing, and framing my diamond paintings. I can’t wait to unwrap and kit up my next, a lighthouse for my husband.
No pictures, but continuing knitting a couple pairs of socks.
Spring brings me joy. The mesquite are starting to bloom. I’ll wait until full bloom to capture. But yesterday we caught sight of a bright yellow bird. I thought it was a finch. But today I got a good look. Unfortunately, he kept moving beyond my phone picture range. But I Googled what I saw. Turns out to be a Western Tanager.

And I’m writing this early as today is my last long drive. My final eye recheck is this afternoon. At least not early in the morning. Still, so many 5 hour driving days are so wearing. Maybe by July I will have recovered.
I think tired is the reason I’m not seeing more improvements. My eyes are tired and blurry. I hope to find ways to get better this afternoon.
Speaking of tired. I just realized, this is Tuesday!!!!

And Happy Tuesday!

Toes done, again. The sock on the right was how far along I’d gotten when I saw it was time to frog the whole mess. So I’ve started a new pair. This is the ‘His’ of KB His or Hers sock loom. This is a charity pair.
The Tea Dragon is nearly done. Probably, tomorrow I’ll place the last diamonds.

I’ve done Morning Pages two days in a row. Of all the finished or near finished projects, the 6 pages are what I’m most proud of. It is hard to do them.

Five more days until this NaNo goal is reached.

Last night was another beautiful sunset.

The eyes keep getting better though the bruises and swelling make it look like I was in a brawl.

I’m still recuperating, not so much from the surgery but so many long trips on so little sleep. My husband noticed I don’t wear glasses while knitting or diamond painting. I still haven’t been brave enough to play piano or recorder for fear of not seeing the music properly.
I’m back to doing Morning Pages and working through both Artist Way and It’s Never Too Late by Julia Cameron.
My Life is still progressing. Five more days in May to meet my goal. I think it’s doable.

Lots getting done. Lots of writing. Still need to rest my eyes a lot while marveling over this miracle.

Almost finished with my dragon.

Second sock nearly caught up with first sock. Heels start tomorrow.
And memoir is coming along.

Too often I tell myself I can’t, I’m too young, I’m too old, I’m too female, I’m too tomboy, too something to do a thing. But when I can be of two minds, I can see that perfection is really what’s stopping me.
I wonder if a bird sings for perfect pitch and rhythm. Maybe the mockingbird works towards being the best mimic.
Maybe those birds in Central America that dance work on their beats.
But the cream that rises to the top is the rarity. That raven outside ain’t even trying? Nah. He’s just being a raven.
Two minds means I can work to do my best but be happy with small, sparrow size accomplishments. Those starlings have managed with persistence to make another nest in our attic. We have tried everything to discourage them. They never look at a blueprint and care nothing about zoning laws.

And you should see the pair loving, and arguing. It takes two!
