Category: Happiness

My passion this week has been my reading, first edit of Haven Above and Beyond. Or until I choose a better title, Haven book 2. My goal when I started February was 25,000 words read/edited to yWriter7. I have ended February with 45,190. Nearly 50k! I’m more than pleased. And I’m excited about the project. I can’t wait to dig in and rewrite, elaborate or kill parts of the story to make it better.

The heels are done on the socks. It won’t be long now!

My body hasn’t cooperated to finish the last bits of the Diamond Painting. Maybe tomorrow.

I have started working with the Trapp recorder book as it is for the English/Baroque. Then I review what works from the other book. I’m starting it over sadly. I had finished that book.

Now I need to go finish a library book that is due tomorrow.

Well, not quite but close.

Still need to straighten, paint on the frame, and seal.

Almost ready to heel. Well, the one on the left.

Yay!

I did meet my February goal of 25k words moved into yWriter7. In fact, I surpassed that number and set up for part two of Haven book two overall edit.

And on this Finishing Friday we started with the freezing fog. Pogonip or rime. Here’s how it looked from the warm side of the curtains:

It is like snow as you get light flurries. But you can watch crystals form on the bannisters. It’s like that science experiment of growing rock crystals. So awesome to look at and just an incredible sight.

Anyway…

Happy Twosday

However you see it–

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “whatever.” Use the word “whatever” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you start your post with it. Have fun!

When my daughter was a teen one of her favorite shows was Sifl and Olly. I probably loved it more than her. ‘Whatever’ was the word of the day. By this point I’d survived four teens! I plead insanity!

Finished Friday

Inside out.
Right side out folded brim
Inside out, fold up brim.
Right side out, brim down.

This was a fun hat. The colors remind me of candy corn. The brim is what I think is called Homespun. It’s polyester and rather bumpy. Because of that I was restricted. It is soft but sometimes hard to work with.

The yellow, and rust yarns were mohair of sorts. It is extremely soft. Again, I was rather restricting. No fancy cable stitches or the like will show up.

I don’t believe these yarns would be itchy in any way. I showed the ways the hat can be worn. The inside of the hat (the purl side) is soft like a kitten. And it looks as furry.

Okay, now the detailed bit. I used 80 pegs (40 links) of the KB Flexee fine-gauge loom. Drawstring cast on. After 4″ of flat-knit stitches I pulled the cast on back on the loom forming a folded brim.

The rest of the body of the hat was a simple flat knit stitch.

Finally, I found better instructions for a nice crown decrease. Here is the YouTube I followed.

Other finished things aren’t so much.

Half a sunset on a beach is better than none.

My editing continues. 8,199 words put into yWriter7.

The brim of the next hat nearly ready to fold up.

Fun Friday

I promised to take a picture to prove our new happiness. Here ya go:

I cropped out the car license plates. But–Yay!

My husband and I had a great time shopping. They had almost everything we needed at far less than shopping the little stores here, with more room and less crowded. They had been picked over during the week. But I was happy to find things to help my new addiction. No. There were no Diamond Art sets, but tape, frames, Command Strips, tons of acrylic paints, etc. Lots of food, though overwhelming amount of snack foods. But gotta keep the locals happy. I’m sure you’ve all seen Dollar Generals. But here,

Here is our post office. It is quaint. Though door-to-door delivery doesn’t happen. We have to walk (7 miles round trip) or drive to pick it up. By the way, in spring and summer there are beautiful flowers surrounding this sweet community meeting place.

Our little hamlet could stand for a bit of improvement.

Don’t get me wrong, I love living in the country. But the biggest reason most move here is housing. It is less expensive. It doesn’t take long to realize that jacked up prices at local stores, the 150 miles to a cheaper store costs in gas to get there. For us $50 gas for every trip. And the $100 to change to snow tires for a couple months then rinse repeat in Spring. Well, I guess you can understand why many of us are so excited for such a humble addition to our community.

Add to the excitement of the new store the Friday Friends chat, it was a great day!

#Making Monday

Because I don’t like sarcasm or facetious remarks, I’ll forgo the #JusJoJan for this last day.

I don’t know if I shared the black painted “framed” *TARDIS in Starry Night.

Didn’t get the whole picture but I think you get the idea. Now I need to pick up some Command Strips to hang it on the wall.

Here’s a little for those who haven’t crossed paths with Doctor Who.<— Wiki

Here is the progress on my newest diamond project. In five days I’ve manage the lower right, of the sandy beach of Beach Sunset. The whole preview on the right. Sideways. This one is worked horizontally and sideways. I need to use the straightener to get my lines more even.

The slipper socks are nearly finished. I’m still working the cuffs.

What are you working on?

Done with the dots and Mod Podge. Tomorrow, black paint framing.

Yesterday, I kitted up the new project.

Here’s the preview and key.

The ‘diamonds’ come in little packets. With this project it’s even better as they are in little ziplock bags. The numbers correspond to the key on the canvas.

One side of cellophane bag.
The other side.
I have these containers that I think are less dumpable. So I labeled per key.
Progress so far.

And knitting is still keeping me out of trouble. This pair going to the charity. I’ll give the play by play when finished.

So soft. I wish they fit me! Not really. I feel good that someone might feel more comfortable in their life.

My mission for Fridays is to have something accomplished. Some weeks I don’t even come close to a finished product. This week, there are a few things I’m proud of. Even though close is all I got.

Probably will finish tomorrow on another scrappy slipper socks for charity, using up some small skeins.
Only a couple empty ‘drill’ spots. I’ll do those before bed. Tomorrow I will ‘Mod Podge’ and paint the border. Then I will look at my next project. Try painting? Sunset beach Diamond Painting? Rock painting? So many artsy-fartsy things to try!
Finish of a perfect day, including a mile walk with Kali.

Now I just need to find music time!

Along with plenty of water, salad and salmon, another important part of my daily diet is a small bit of dark chocolate. A diet should have some yum, don’t you think?

I choose that square nearest my left side of my hair. Just above the double heart.
