Category: Gratitude

My friend had to go home today. I hate goodbyes, don’t you?

We had a lot of fun despite the 90+ heat. It was nicer inside, thanks to my daughter and her fiance, who sent us an air conditioner. It keeps it cool in our home. Sometimes it’s cold.

Anyway, we binged on The Umbrella Academy while knitting or diamond painting.

My friend finished her moon on side one. I finished the heart side one. Sorry I didn’t take a picture of her project but here’s mine.

I think I already shared this, sorry.

Here’s here knitting project to donate to charity.

That’s a garter stitch brim. She chose this yarn from my donated stash. I liked it so much I left it out to see if I could make slipper socks to go with the hat.  Oh, and she did this on the 36 peg Knifty Knitter loom using e-wrap. She  made it in one sitting.

So I started the slippers on the Flexee fine-gauge loom with 40 pegs. I used the following cast-on using the cuff-down rather than my usual toe-up.

After a couple weeks away I finally got the chance to DP. Here’s the progress.

The animals reclaimed the sofa.

But they miss her, too. No one to bug in the night. No one to stab with razor sharp claws. But also one less person to cuddle with.

Side one of heart, done. Forgive Kali hair. I thought I had brushed it all off. She missed me so much she left momentos on my chair. 😉
To the ankle of these. It won’t be long.
After a couple frogs and restarts on this pair, new toe on the right is nearly ready to finish the Kitchener cast-on. In fact, now that they are out, I think I’ll continue right now.

I have company still, who also enjoys diamond painting and loom-knitting so we are having fun watch shows, chatting, and hobbying. Two weeks of fun!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “bagged.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

How is it that Bagged seems a happy, positive thing. Yet sacked can bring you down?

We are finally done with my travels. My friend brought me home. Everything I’d bagged is now put away, or at least near the desired home.

Tomorrow we plan to bag more food and water and take a little trip to take a hike and enjoy nature’s beauty. Fun is in the bag.

Gone are the days when a day enjoying yourself could result in being sacked. See what I mean?

I hope you have a great weekend! Here’s another way to be bagged:

I brought my little kit with me. My friend and I sat and DPed while watching The Umbrella Academy.

It’s been in the 100s so sitting around in the cool house made for quieter fun.

Here’s what I got done so far.

Bits of the kit. How the moon looked before the diamonds.
First side finished yesterday.

Back side finished today. I still have a couple more forms to work on. This kit is portable and easy to do in small bits.

I’ve got a pair of socks going, too.

Just a couple of rows and it’ll be time for the heels. This yarn is soft. It’s charity yarn so these will go to the giveaway bag. I need to take the bag to the charity. It’s getting full!

We took a little trip to see our friend. It was good to see her healthy. We laughed and enjoyed each other’s company at a park. Starting the visit with a COVID test to make sure the exposure she had from a previous meeting was negative is a weird way to start a visit. But we are rather in that vulnerable population so we have to be careful. She was negative. So we celebrated life.

I’m having a blast this week. Friends and my adult children on long visits are building my memory banks with love.

Family Fun

I got to road trip then spend time with my son and daughter. And SO daughter. We had a lot of fun. It was HOT so we couldn’t do much and stay COVID safe but we managed.

Now I get to visit friends.

Why do I turn into a crybaby when I have to leave?

Mobile Monday

Just a quickie to let you know I’m off to see family and friends. Yay! I’ll try to check in every day but I knew today would be hardest with seven hours in the car. But even that will be fun visiting with my son and daughter and almost daughter today and part of tomorrow.

Last night the offspring camped. My oldest and I visited with them but didn’t want to camp. So we drove home.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “—amble.” Add letters to the beginning of “-amble” to make another word or use it as is in your post. Enjoy!

Writing my memoirs is like ambling back through my life. 72 years of shambles and rambling through brambles. Ouch! or take a gamble with this choice or that. Though it is fun to revisit with my grandparents and aunts and uncles, revisiting death or car accidents can sometimes feel like it just happened even if it’s been decades since the actual occurrence. Still smelling the cedar of my grandparent’s closets or the ever-present scent of laundry soap can make me feel warm and secure. I have learned new ways to find my center.

Remember that friend you went to Renaissance Faire with? Remember a day of laughing while sitting in a creek on a hot day? So many memories to take that stroll. I do love a good amble!

This was my last plarn project on the loom. But I had forgotten how to work this pattern. So I frogged it.
My husband mentioned he needed a water bottle carrier for our walks so here’s the progress.
Finished a pair of socks. Shh! I think these are my daughter’s size.😉
Time to move on on these charity socks.

Something else I’m working on. And it really is work! I’m going through all the Doctor Whos. I’ve managed to get to season three. Good thing I’m not watching. It’s mostly background while I write.

I am both impressed with how much of the traditions they managed to maintain so many years later And watching my high school fashions scroll before my eyes. And I’m grateful for the progress in acting and technology making good shows nowadays.

Sunday Sunshine

If I haven’t stated it before. I love CBS Sunday Morning. I always find something that makes me happy or educates me. This segment was so enlightening.

Another favorite segment was this man of passion I met in the movie White Knights.

And just in case you never saw White Knights, which I don’t think they mentioned:

This was probably my favorite part. What passion shows in these two men as they perform!

There was so much more to the show this morning that I would have to drive you to YouTube a lot. But there are segments on YT that you can see of Jim Croce’s son, a Little Shell, and of course, the moment of zen that my husband and I look forward to and regret as it means the show is over for the week.

Linda G. Hill presents: Stream of Consciousness Saturday

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley! https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a picture from wherever.” When you sit down to write your post, find a picture, whether in a magazine, newspaper, or even product packaging. Write whatever thought or emotion the picture provokes. Enjoy!

When I see the moment the sun and water marry, I feel more alive than ever. And love to my core.
