Maybe.
You see these crazy fun socks were nearly to the heel part. I found a mistake. Tinking back.

A quick NaNoWriMo report. Empty now has 15,231 words. I should have 16,670. So back to the storyboard.

As the Wicked Watch by Tamron Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Susan Dalian (Narrator) did a good job of reading this, but I would have liked it better had Tamron Hall used her own voice.
Still, it was too real for me. I really don’t like murder mysteries. Why can’t mysteries be more than that? Why make murder an everyday occurrence when, if you think about it, there are a lot of mysteries to look into that could save lives rather than seeing it from the deadly point of view?
Mostly, it was a difficult read at bedtime. That’s on me, I suppose.
I did like that Ms. Hall presented facts about racial inequalities and those inequalities that women go through. I liked the parts of the book about a struggling professional woman trying to make her way in the business Tamron knows well.
I will probably not read the rest of the series. But I am sure there are those who will love it, so don’t take my word for it. Try it. I was lucky to pick up my copy for Libby.
After months and so many tinks, nearly remaking these several times over, I finally finished my Sneaker Socks. These will bring back all the memories of the wedding and Wisconsin. I brought these and the hat I just finished a couple of days ago. The hat was helpful as it was easier and didn’t need the concentration these socks took. I constantly made mistakes and had to find my way back.

I didn’t think I’d like that ribbing in the foot area, but it feels like a foot hug. I love it! I may add that to future socks.
I know I’ve shared the tutorials before but these have helped me a lot!
I followed most of it. But the bind off was too hard for me. Instead I went with my fav, Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off. Even that had to be tinked and redone a couple of times.
Being Henry: The Fonz . . . and Beyond by Henry Winkler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was okay. I do like that someone talks about how it feels to be dyslexic and how it can go with you your entire life. Even if you can somehow learn tricks to help you through some situations, it can mess with your self-esteem for your whole life. Just wait until all the systems start going down; those tricks that got you by when you were young now leave your grasp.
What Henry Winkler teaches us is to find new ways to work your life. He writes books now and does a lot to help others, including kids. Even if we can’t do things others can, it doesn’t mean there isn’t something we CAN do that others might find difficult. Teach each other well, and help each other.
I listened to the audiobook with Mr. Winkler reading. It is hard to read at bedtime as he has a lot of energy in his voice that wouldn’t let me relax and go to sleep. So I suggest reading in the car, on the way to work, or while out on a walk. There are a lot of gems worth hearing in this book.
Just in case you think I quit knitting. Here’s what I finished today. Someone I love will get this.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “meat/meet/mete.” Use one or use ’em all for bonus points. Have fun!

Meeting the word count in NaNoWriMo is the challenge of November. Today I should have a total of 6,668 words. No one is going to mete out punishment for not reaching that goal, but I try not to write things that are not fun for me. That means I want a story I can chew on. Something meaty. Even if my main characters are vegetarian.
By the way, my project is entitled “Empty.” And it no longer is. I actually have 6,585. My characters are in trouble so I need to get back and make it worse before heading to bed.
Here’s a working cover:

No vampire, but something is up. I don’t know until my characters tell me. It’s fun!
Second Wave: Acorna’s Children by Anne McCaffrey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
With reluctance, I am rating this one only three stars. Sadly, it was because it was whispersynched with a child’s voice that didn’t modulate between characters. And here I had been longing to have the Acorna books audio.
This story was fun in this time-traveling, interplanetary plague-ridden space opera. The robots and healing horns of Acorna’s children made this maybe the most flexible story of the series. Yet the voice ruined it for me. I wish I could find out who did it, but it doesn’t appear anywhere.
Anyway, I still am enjoying the series. I seem to always love Anne McCaffrey’s books and I still have quite a few to get through.
I hope you like this more than I did. Maybe I’ll reread the series and try to just use the text-to-speech.
2,106 words in a novel titled Empty and I still don’t know what I’m writing.
