This was refreshing and fun. Sue Ann Jaffarian has a wit that keeps the writing about traveling light and wistful.
I have to admit that I often feel I would love to travel by RV and sleep wherever the road leads me. But the lack of money and courage keep me housebound.
With Text-to-Speech on Kindle, this was a fast read. And vicariously, we get to hit the road!
Messenger of Truth by Jacqueline Winspear

This one was particularly bittersweet. The art world of the day was brought to light. But also, there was a deep sadness for our main characters.
These story bits were mixed into the murder mystery. Was it a murder? Another part of the mystery.
I highly recommend these books. Jacqueline Winspear’s research and writing abilities keep the story engaging. So far, I have been able to read/listen to the audio version of the books on Libby. Orlagh Cassidy (Narrator) brought it all to life.
Jam. Painful, sticky, annoying. Think about it. Have you ever jammed your toe? Yep. I’ve broken both baby toes. And the large thumby toe. That one brought a cast up to my knee!
While there, that gunky stuffy between your toes in the summer time? Toe Jam.
So drive a car, instead? Nope. Traffic jam. So annoying. When we lived in the L.A. area and got stuck in traffic, I told the kids we should call for pizza delivery and get to know our fellow travelers also stuck in the jam.
Toast and jam? Bleach! Sticky fingers, dishes, table, kids. Stick with butter. Or just coffee.
I guess you can say I’m not a fan of jam.
I’m sorry A-Z Challenge, I’m so behind. But I’ll try to make up the alphabet soup on Monday. I’m two book reviews behind, too. My brain thinks we have a newborn. And Finishing Friday is sadly behind.
I did finally get to the doctor’s office for my routine physical. Yay, ME! Now for all the follow through.
I found this on one of my favorite groups on Facebook, Returning Piano Students. This group is inspiring and challenging.
Speaking of piano, I gave myself all Fs a couple days ago. And gave up at 10 minutes. Lack of sleep can make the brain into mush. I couldn’t stay in any key signatures and misread ledger lines. But today all went well. It was fun.

This was a very serendipitous read. I ran out of story before sleep took over. I looked up ready to borrow books from Libby and this one was ready.
At first, I thought it was too meandering. It seemed all over the place. There were a lot of characters and points of view. But soon, curiosity took hold of me, and I found I just wanted to know what was happening and why.

I was not expecting a picture book on audio. I was expecting an autobiography or memoir. But honestly, this was a cute story. Now I wish I had seen the picture book.
Libby had it ready for me in a few weeks. It might be a fun one to read with your children. Trevor Noah did the narration, so it is worth it in every way. Take the adventure.
Battle Bond: An Urban Fantasy Dragon Series: Death Before Dragons, Book 2 by Lindsay Buroker

Vivienne Leheny narrated this audiobook. I had attempted to read the text-to-speech Kindle version. It was difficult to stay in the story as Kindle’s TTS read a main character named Nine Inch Nails and called fingers finJa. Nin was the person’s name. She didn’t show up often, but that moniker didn’t work.
This series is a great distraction from all the worries of our day. Who doesn’t need a dragon who becomes human. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known About Menopause by Naomi Watts

If you are a female from young to old, this book will have something for you. Even though I am 75 and a few years beyond menopause, I found things that I might be able to help my physical and mental health even now.
Naomi Watts (Author, Narrator), Mary Claire Haver MD (Author), and Allyson Ryan (Narrator) helped the reader stay involved with the topic that could otherwise get heavy in medical jargon.
Naomi Watts keeps the book personal enough for the average woman to find common ground, even if they don’t follow the same path through the hormonal jungle. Having personal stories with medical backups helps the reader decide about her health.
I was fortunate to listen to the Libby audiobook. I need to get the paper version to research the lists of products or clinics. By the way, this would be a great book for family and friends to have a starting point for discussions. Take notes to share with your medical team.
