Cher: The Memoir, Part OneCher: The Memoir, Part One by Cher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

And the Beat Goes On for the best member of that team!

I loved, loved, loved this autobiography from one of my favorite singers from the 60s. It was a chance to relive my life. She kept me singing, dancing, or laughing during good or bad times.

Cher wrote an accessible story about part of her life. As she stated, dyslexia is one of those abilities many share, and can understand why she needed a part-time narrator. Stephanie J. Block took over the story seamlessly. Sometimes, it was hard to tell who was reading. But suddenly, there was a deep voice and accent that made you realize it was Cher. But I never could tell when Ms. Stephanie took over.

I can hardly wait for part two. But I may try to listen to this one again and add my musical playlist to bring it to life. I would love to see this as a movie or series. Cher has been through several lifetimes of good and bad times.

I highly recommend this autobiographical masterpiece. Please enjoy the audio version!

Sunday Funny

This is one of my favorites. I stumbled over it on Facebook.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “blanket.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!
Snow started two nights ago.
See? A nice little blanket that lasted the whole next day.
And is still on the porch banisters today.
It’s not as thick as the sheets of music I’m enjoying playing with on my piano. I’ve made copies of favorites and new pieces. Taped together, I didn’t have to do page turns. Yes, the newest fun is Linus and Lucy Theme. As much as I love that and Dexter, I’m horrid at the rhythms presented. So my newest challenge is to get beyond “Nice cup of tea” triplet against duplets, and other syncopation and jazziness. All my new and old favorites are making me more passionate about my piano time. Okay. Thanks, Mom. 60 years too late, I suppose. But you knew I’d say it some day.

How does one thank those who have given you the most? Especially when they’re gone. In this case, I’m embracing the passion and challenges. Though I’m not naturally gifted. My mother blanketed me in lessons and learning discipline to practice. Or as I convinced my inner child, playing.

As I blanket myself in other musical fun.
Blankets of security and fun.
Nearly finished.

Sammie the Spidercat the furry lapcat who now can blanket my legs as I knit, crochet or scroll.

The best blanket. Feeling content and secure.

One-Liner Wednesday

Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.

I have so much through all the music I can play with. And all the creating in my life.
One-Liner Wednesday is a Linda G. Hill prompt. Thanks!

The Woman in MeThe Woman in Me by Britney Spears
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was surprisingly intriguing. Ms. Spears writes eloquently. Michelle Williams narrates with heartfelt empathy.

I’m not star-driven, but since writing my memoir, I have read many of them. The mechanics of the writing and reading aside, we dive deeply into Britney’s well-known life. The crazy news surrounding her from the beginning always made me feel sorry for her and angry for her. Hearing her side of it, I feel even more compassion for her.

I was able to pick this up on Libby. If you get the chance, you might like the book, too. Memoirs give us a chance to walk in another’s shoes.

Finishing Friday

Yay! I’ve finished the heels. Once I get to the heel, I stick with one pair until the last stitch.
Found on Facebook. Truth. I’m not even aiming for good. I’m aiming for fun. Music.
My newest project is making copies of some of my favorite pieces from an ancient book so that I can tape them together to avoid page turning. I’m horrid at the turns. Just not fast or coordinated to do that anymore.
The beach is finished!!! Now I need to straighten, seal, and send.

My other projects are holding their own. Not much progress. I can announce that yesterday I managed my 5 miles in 30 minutes on my stationary bike. Today, though, I just managed 15 minutes. My body is still not up to par.

Meaningful Monday

I learned music as my second language.
Not available on Duolingo.
No longer used in most churches who gave up hymnals in favor of lyric slides.
I learned to carry my part while Dad sang bass,
my mother sang soprano,
my dear aunt sang a beautiful alto.
Another man in the congregation sang tenor (sometimes too low and awful an octive higher).
I could sing with those females but felt sad my dad was alone with his booming deep gorgeous vocal line. I did learn second soprano. I am privileged to feel competent on those female lines thanks to hymnals.

Totally me! BUT there is the school of thought of visualization. It helps.

A truth from this musician with no rhythm.
