Witches Get Stuff Done (Starfall, #1)Witches Get Stuff Done by Molly Harper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Looking for a quick, fun read at a time when it seems everything causes stress? This is it. Amanda Ronconi and Teddy Hamilton (narrators) give the book the voices of the story. I admit, though, I wouldn’t say I like it when a man reads a woman’s part. I know it was the male character’s point of view chapter, but I wish it would all be read in a female voice or divided up accordingly. Okay, maybe it is to help the listener see that male point of view and how he hears her voice, but I always feel males make a female voice in a way that makes fun of the female.

This story starts differently than most and keeps it light even though life and death are imminent. The ghost in the house that Riley inherits have their own agendas and personalities to keep a smile on your face if not an outright laugh out loud.

This was an Audible original. I loved it! Looking forward to the next in the series.

NaNo Null

Look what I got done today:

Yarns galore. None being told.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “clown.” Use it as a noun or a verb; use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

So you know I’m not clothing around:

That yellow part is actually light green. I’m pretty happy with them! But time to NaNo!

Finishing Friday

As soon as I do one more row the sock on the right will be ready for bind-off. The sock on the right could have been finished, but I wanted green on the cuff so I will tink down and add the green from a different part of the skein.
A fine gauge toe finished. On to the foot. I think I’ll do ribbing as I love how the Sneaker Socks feels.
A nice pair of slipper socks started.
Ribbing of a hat finished. Now on to the rest of the hat. I will have to buy more of this buttery soft yarn.
I need to have 28k by now. Sadly, I am 4k behind. So back to work.
Yeah. At this rate I’ll be done December 5. 😥
Saw this on Facebook. Cute, huh?

Shaking Head

Who makes cakes when they need 4,000 words?

I do.

Okay. Time to write. Maybe someday I can play with this yarn!

One-Liner Wednesday

A new pet battery instead of a dog. (Glad the truck runs but didn’t have time to drive to the shelter and to the doctor appointment.)

Meh.

Empty Progress

The math of 14×1667=

Yeah. I do more math during NaNo than the rest of the year!

My friend and I are both behind. We are finding zooming sprint sessions helps a lot. So we’re going to try one more this evening.

I’ll write a blurb as soon as I know where these characters lead me.

Tomorrow I have a doctor’s appointment, X-ray to see what could be causing my blood pressure issues. My friends have diagnosed POTS but we’ll see.

To make it worth our while, we plan on getting shopping done, and a battery bought, and dog hunt. I so miss Kali. I want another dog! So I guess that’s a couple requests for good thoughts and prayers.

Maybe there’s a dog out there that needs me as much as I need a dog?

Third EyeThird Eye by Felicia Day
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, boy! That was fun! It’s probably not the best bedtime book, as it made me laugh and kept me awake. With a whole lineup of actors: Felicia Day, Sean Astin, Neil Gaiman, Lily Pichu, London Hughes, and Wil Wheaton, I felt like I was watching a movie. I do hope it gets to be a show.

Oh, the craziness! The chosen one is the failed one. All magic comes with a price, even if it doesn’t work! I hope they make it so everyone can listen to it. My friends who don’t have Audible still can’t enjoy it. I hope that even folks who have to use Libby will be able to laugh at this soon.

Dewali

Sometimes, things happen, and you see synchronicity in the works. Friday on GMA3, they shared about Dewali. I won’t try to explain as I am very new to the idea.

I was about to let it go. But today, in my writing, I randomly generated a young girl whose name is Puja. The heroes of the novel rescued her, and so that she would feel at home, they set up their house to celebrate this festival of lights. I’m still new, but it seems a great way to welcome a scared orphan.

I don’t know where my story is going. And I am 2k behind. But I will not give up because the story is still teaching me.

Happy Dewali!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “create.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Creating can be fun, if you have all the time in the world and no stress. But when guilt gangs up on creative juices it seems there is no more juice.

Yep, that’s what is happening with the NaNoWriMo. I have 16,115 words at this moment. I’m going to go find prompts to move the story along. I need 18,337. See ya tomorrow!
