Per Linda’s prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “loan/lone.” Use them any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use both. Have fun!

These two words are weird. Though line has ‘one’ that points to feeling so alone, lonely. One never feels so alone as when they feel the need for a loan.

Unless, that is, if one is standing in line at the library.

Even if alone one can never feel lonely while waiting to borrow a book or ten. A loan with excitement and adventure attached.

By the way, Happy Mother’s Day!

Finishing Friday

Finished the remake of this pair of slippers. They will probably be too big for the first recipient.
This was the finish because I ran out of the bumpy cotton yarn. The brown was too tight and needed to be frogged back.
Empty needles call for new projects. Turkish Cast-on is my favorite. Too more rows, then the foot. Two-At-A-Time Chiaogoo cables size 8 40″
Almost finished. Just a piece of sky. Do I hear Barbra Streisand in Yentl?
The sunset. This weekend Oregon might see Aurora Borealis. So far not much in the sky but stars. There’s a lighter part of the sky but could it just be light reflection? No colors. But twilight and pre sunrise are the times to watch.

There are a few more projects. I just ran out of writing energy. I did finish “Leave the World Behind.” The review hits Sunday.

WorthyWorthy by Jada Pinkett Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Autobiographies are hard to rate. It feels like I’m rating the person or their life experiences. So, instead, I will say this was interesting. Ms. Smith did her own narration, which is always more authentic.

What is different about this book is that Jada takes the time to address the reader and guides us through our own issues that might be like what she went through. A little journal prompts the reader to write out their own feelings.

This was a Libby audiobook. I think you all might like it.

Herringbones and Hexes (Vampire Knitting Club, #12)Herringbones and Hexes by Nancy Warren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One more fun Vampire Knitting Club! I am sad to know that there are many of these left. The story continues, and I feel that saying much more becomes a spoiler. It was fun figuring out if plans would come to fruition or if another murder could be solved.

I love Nancy Warren’s dry humor in her writing. Her reader, Sarah Zimmerman, knows how to vocalize it. If I didn’t have a lot of other books, library books, to read, I would be set to listen to the next of the VKC.

If you get the chance and need a fun, cozy book or series, try Ms. Warren’s.

Made It Monday

I finished my scrappy no-show socks. I thought they’d fit me but they are slightly too small, so off to a friend.

I still have more of that purple-bluey yarn so I started toes for a new pair.

I finished my Uke strap.

It straightens out when I put it on. It’s comfortable .
I’m on the heel of the remakes. They are going to be a little too big for the first recipient. But  we have a friend who might like these when her feet and ankles swell.
Nearly finished Shooting the Curl!

The snow finally melted. We are told on the news, that though we started our week in the winter we will have Spring and then Summer by the weekend. Crazy Oregon! I love it!

Cinco de Mayo?

The quail are enjoying the shelter from the mesquite.

I woke up early to the best snow of this year. What? It’s May!!!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “note.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Let it be noted, that I’m not wanting to write right now. It has been a barometric-changing all day. Windy, rainy, and it’s snowing now.

Yeah. Looks worse than it is. But it is starting to stick.

All of this made my joints hurt and brain foggy.

The foggy brain didn’t think that knitting and tinking alllll day was ergonomically bad. How smart is that?

BUT, I finished the Ukulele strap. So as soon as I finish this note, I’ll pull out the Uke and attach the strap.

Then listen for the chords and strums and licks, and notes.🎶🎵🪈🎸

Finishing Friday

Readjusting an older pair to fit a friend better. Lots of tinking to get to this stage. Two more rows to tink then I need to find a good yarn for the heels and cuffs.
I think these will be mine. Another pair of crazy socks. The next row starts the heels, so the end is in sight.
Shooting the Curl is three/fourths done. I have to turn this upside down next as reaching up hurts.

I’m halfway through the new Sudoku book.

Hey, the part that is the hardest and happiest: I’m learning Imagine by John Lennon. I’m not very good but here’s how I’m learning it.

My fingers have developed calluses but that is bad for recorders because now it’s hard to tell if the little holes are closed tightly so I get more squeaky noises than I did before picking up the Uke. Ah, well, I’m having fun.

That’s not all but all I have energy to report.

Oh, my hair is growing and I’m adding messy bun hairpieces to my short ponytail.

Diamonds and Daggers (Vampire Knitting Club, #11)Diamonds and Daggers by Nancy Warren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading serious books, I like to take a reading vacation. The Vampire Knitting Club is a fun place to go. Not your usual vampires. These are sophisticated, mostly non-neck-biting types. They meet in the original owner’s residence above and below the yarn shop. They knit. Anyone who knows me understands my affection for the wooly soft stuff.

It is the original owner’s granddaughter who owns the store now. Her grandmother is now a vampire. It was the only way to save her life. But she can’t be seen in the shop. It really upsets the customers to see their favorite yet dead yarn expert walking around.

Each and every volume of this series is fun and wrapped around some murder. Don’t doubt for a minute the pointy needles are harmless. But they do remind one of the canine teeth, don’t they?

Add to all that, the grandmother and granddaughter are witches. Well, the granddaughter didn’t know that until she inherited the shop when her grandmother supposedly passed. Now she is learning to knit and to ‘witch.’ In this particular volume, she is learning about her athame. Dagger.

Sarah Zimmerman narrates the Audible version I was reading/listening to. She isn’t too irritating, but her attitude seems a bit too high society for the main character, but you get used to it. At least you don’t get lost. And the author writes a wonderful story and keeps you engaged and wanting more.

I have already finished and started number 12. These books are a bit of a drug of fun for me. I hope you all get to read them.
